Is anyone left handed yet plays golf right handed? I'm a lefty and always played with left handed clubs, but I'm considering trying from the other side. I've never gotten very good from the left, so it's not like I've got much to lose. Of course, I could just build the same lousy swing on the other side, but hopefully I can build my new right handed swing from the scratch. Any thoughts?

Re: Left handers playing right handed?
My son, who is 6 (stared golf at 3) is left handed but plays right handed. We were given right handed clubs early so that is what he uses. He is now getting currious and noticing some of the pro golfers hitting left handed. He some time turns the club over heel up and toe down and hits left handed just as good. So I don't know what to do.
I don't think it will take you too long to get confortable hitting left handed if you are allready lefthanded.

Re: Left handers playing right handed?
Hello,
I share in the left or right issue with a 4 year old grandson. He kicks balls leftfooted but yet he throws equally well right or left. Originally, I got him a RH set of clubs and he putted left handed with the back of the putter.
I am not sure what to do.
Interestingly I have a friend who is a lefty scratch golfer and has always played RH but he can play LH also. I have seen him practice hitting 7 irons swinging LH with a RH club hitting the ball with the back of the club in a tighter pattern at 125 yds than me with my 9 iron at a 12 HC. Being next to a tree means nothing to him. Anyone seen that on tour?
Anyway, this is my first post on this site so I will attempt to keep my lengthy self short.
Adios

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: Left handers playing right handed?
I'm left handed, and have played sports right handed my entire life. Now, whether it was due to observation of right handed players, or a coach that taught me to play right handed, or whatever, is something to debate later.
As for switching, there's nothing to lose. But if your natural inclination is to play left, you may have to work harder to get the right side feeling natural.

Re: Left handers playing right handed?
I have a friend who is left handed. He plays all sports that uses one hand left, e.g. tennis, badminton. However, when it comes to play sports that uses both hands, e.g. golf, cricket, he will swing right handed.
I guess you can give right handed a go and see which one feels more naturally to you.
