    Presidetnt's Cup.

I missed the last hour of play....did DiMarco's win really matter ? I don't get it. US won by 3 points it says and futher adds Dimarco clinched it for US !

If DiMarco was the 'clincher' the score must be 16.5 and 18.5 and not 15.5 and 18.5 Somebody explain......

DiMarco and Applebe were going into the last hole tied. Lefty and Angel were on their first hole of overtime. If Applebe won the last hole then it was up to Angel to win the hole and the team score would be tied again. So what they call a true win I guess is not a tie and the default winner going to the last years winner. No matter what heppened, the US was retainning the cup, just in which fashion was what was at stake...

A day late and a dollar short, but it's been rattling around in my brain...

Maybe it's like the game-winning run in baseball, or goal in hockey.

Even though the scoring might have gone Smith-Thorpe-Jones for the winning team in a 3-1 win, the player that scored the 'winning' point would be Thorpe, as Jones' score became irrelevant (as the team could have won 2-1 without it).

        Does this make sense/apply here?
