After 4 months of trying I was playing at Roosevelt State course in Warm Springs, GA Saturday...I made my first birdie on an uphill 150 yd par 3. I hit a 6 iron high and stuck 6 feet left of the pin with one little bounce and one putt later had my birdie. Third time I played this course and first time I picked the right club (yeah right...got lucky) to get up the 100 or so feet hill to land on the green. Rest of the day was bogey golf and on my way to shooting below 50 until the snowmen popped up back to back on the 7th and 8th par 4s ending up with a 51 on the 9 holes.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

Re: First Birdie
51 over 9 is great for a 4 month player...
I got sucked in with my first birdie 6 weeks into playing.
339 yard Par 4, good drive, duffed approach, pin was front left, nothing but dead fairway between me and the pin, so I paced it off (about 17 yards) and grabbed the Texas wedge. I thought I'd just lag it close, and enjoy my first par. Then the ball ran up, bounced to the left, and went in the cup!Last edited by LowPost42; 11-01-2005, 02:12 PM.

Re: First Birdie
Took me just over a year to get my first (and to date only) eagle. 546 yard par 5: driver, 2-hybrid, then dropped a 30 yard pitch (over a bunker no less). Had a 50 foot put at eagle on that same hole a few weeks ago after driver-3 wood, but 3 putted for par

Re: First Birdie
Congrats, it is really exciting when you start seeing scores drop.
I got my first birdie after about 4 months of play myself. it was on a 270 yard par 4. I hit my driver about 180 yards back then. then I hit my Pw next to the hole and a foot putt for birdie. 2 months later I got my first eagle same hole but this time I duffed my drive and hit an 8 iron into the hole.
Now 2 years later I would be able to drive that green except the club closed down and they have house all over the old coarse. But I have eagled about 12 times and get birdies on every round, My best round of golf I hit 6 birdies and 5 pars 4 boegys 2 doubles and 1 triple. 5 over par.

Re: First Birdie
I got my first birdie on the 3rd hole of my very first round.
It was a very lucky birdie (a chip in) but a birdie none the less.
Is that a record?

Re: First Birdie
i got mine, well first 2, came 2 months after starting, been golfing about 2 months and a half now. first was a par 4 and a long 20 yard chip in, pretty but full of luck. 2nd one was a par 3, landed 3 foot from pin, easy put in for birdie.
