    Re: Distance comparison table

    Pretty close! its a par 69 layout and my handicap is 15 and they are my average stats for the year roughly.

    out of the 12 greens that I miss i can only usually hit bout 6 of them due to a poor drive stopping me from reaching the green.

    Looking at my stats what do you think is my best way to reduce my score?

    My coach says my ball striking is around category 1 level at the moment and he can't understand why i'm not shooting a lot lower. Until recently I'v been working on too many swing changes. My coach would give me 1 swing change and then if i still hit wayward shots I would start to coach myself in between lessons instead of getting the original change ingrained in my swing. At the moment my swing getting much more consistent as all my bad shots are cutting at the moment due to, I think, a cupped left wrist.

      Re: Distance comparison table

      To improve - 2 things scream out at me:

      1. Scrambling - should be around 50% - that'll cut 4 shots off your score
      2. Putting - should be around 30 putts - that'll cut 3 shots off your score

      7 shots difference = 8 handicap

      Then sure, driving more accurately or more consistently will help you hit more greens, so maybe a look at your driving and course management might be an idea as well.

        Re: Distance comparison table

        I'v just recently joined a short game practice facility so i'm trying to practice down there about 3 times a week. I'm also trying to go down the range twice a week aswell as at least 2 rounds of golf a week.

        Thanks for your help and advice Graham, hopefully by summer of next year i can be down to category 1 with most of my playing partners.

        Its so frustrating when I outdrive them or hit some shots into greens that leave them congratulating me and then finish the round 10 shots behind them

          Yeah carry is whats important. You can only compare yourself to the pros using like equipment
          i.e clubs and balls
          Unless you are playing on Championship courses you will never get the roll these guys are getting, 50yrds I mean come on.
          Let the fairways grow, an easy way to bring the game back to "normal".

            Graham,

            I complete know what you mean. I have had days when my tee to green was just perfect, yet I couldnt buy any putts. While on some days, I would drive the ball to the next fairway but still manage to score better.

            Right now, I am also trying to get my putting average down to about 30 putts. 15 per nine which is good since it means one putting for three holes. If I can also scramble 50% of the time as well, I would be able to shoot under par consistently (as long as I dont hit those wild misses off the tee to OB land..)

                    Sorry,

                    B = bois (french) = Wood
                    F = Fer (french) = Iron...

                    I have corrected on my post.
