Re: Best Tips/Lessons of the season

The best tip I found was to create an inside to out path through the ball, it got rid of my horrendous slice in a matter of days. I only do it off the tee with my 3 wood, I find I don't need to with irons.
    Cheers
    Merry Christmas All.

Re: Best Tips/Lessons of the season

Two tips that have helped me this season:

          (i) Clearing your mind of everything else except where you want the ball to go on the course;

(ii) Tuck your right elbow close to your right hip (for right handers) on the downswing. Particulary critical for wedge shots to make them go straight.

There have many tips on how to hit your drives but nothing guarantees a straight shot every time that I've found. Ill keep trying.

I've enjoyed reading the struggles that other golfers are going through and appreciate all the advice that have been freely given. I thank those that have given their time to respond to my posts.

May you all have a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year and I hope you'll keep enjoying your golf.

            Best tip ever for me.

practice on the practice ground and play on the course, with a quite mind.

It takes practice to let go of the control your mind wants but once you can do it, it is amazing.

Re: Best Tips/Lessons of the season

Here's another tip that has helped me this year. I first saw it on The Golf Channel's "Playing lessons with the Pro's". It wasn't until late this year that I saw it so I have only been using it for the past month or so, but I really think it helps. The tip is to pick out a TARGET that is small and out quite a ways, distance wise. Now, just before you get ready to hit the ball, take several short peeks at your target, and one more just before your eyes return to the ball for the last time. It really helps. Most people stand on the tee or at the ball and stare at it the whole time. Having a target and keeping focused like this really helps. It sort of is supported in the words of Harvey Pinick when he said "TAKE DEAD AIM". Chessbum....

Re: Best Tips/Lessons of the season

Swing "through" the ball. Not "at" the ball. Once I started doing this everything felt better.

Re: Best Tips/Lessons of the season

I would like to know where the right hand drill is as I have just had some lessons and the pro told me I need to keep my right wrist bent for longer as I'm not getting any distance on my shots.

                        Best tips ever:
                        1. Play comfortable
                        2. Focus on the target
                        3. Don't underclub
                        4. Avoid the big mistake
                        5. Short game is more important than long game
                        6. The 6 feet putt is the most important shot in golf

Re: Best Tips/Lessons of the season

The greg J willis wrist lesson and in one of the mags a teacher alluded to swinging at the ball not trying to strike or hit the ball.

Got both those lessons a bit late in the season toi see how big of an impact they'll have but they feel right.

I was thinking about signing up for the Golf Channels Video Vault - can you save the videos you download... and have you found that it helpled your game, if so, how so...

The golf channel .com is a great source for tips by real golf instructors and accomplished golfers. I dont know if the videos can be saved I've never tried but for 29.99 a year it is a great resource for instruction and video.
