  • Refinished/Refurbished golf balls

I was looking to buy some golf balls on ebay and I've come across a lot of 'refinished golf balls'. They seem relatively inexpensive and look brand new. Now I understand that they are re-painted or re-varnished etc, but does this really affect the performance that much?) Has anyone ever used these balls and are they worth looking into? [Decent} golf balls in Ireland are very expensive and I'm tempted to give the refinished type a try. Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Better than 'refinished/refurbished' is just 'experienced'. Most expereinced balls in 'like new' condition have only been hit once or twice before some hacker (like me ) lost it in the water hazzard. I am not sure about the refinishing process, but I assume that the performance is not as good as off the shelf.

As a general rule, Gord is right. Experienced is better than refinished. The refinishing process often smooths out the dimples, making the ball play less like it's original designed intent.
