We might have done this before, but pick the three golfers you would most like to play a round with (all would be in their prime so it can be anyone you want) and what venue you would like. Im expecting a lot of Tiger/Augusta nonsense so a Fantasy Fourball Trophy (the site could help here by inventing a trophy Icon for the best entry) to the most original/quirky suggestions for players and courses. Try and give a reason for each one.

    Heres my picks:

Sandy Lyle: My golfing Idol, fantastic natural talent and a heck of a nice guy to boot.
Peter Alliss: The kind of saturday morning draw you would love every once in a while, legendary wit and perhaps a little under-rated as a player.
Seve Ballesteros: Just to watch him play the game as no one has done before or since. Tigers great but he just ain't Seve......

My 18 holes (maybe even 36 if I could persuade em) would be round The Brabazon at The Belfry. So many famous shots to try and 3 great players to watch trying them.

    I would have to pick:

Mike Weir - a truly great Canadian athlete and amazing short game
John Daly - I would love to play a round with someone who could potentially outdrive me every hole with his putter!!! He is very much a performer and enjoys involving the gallery in the game.
Lee Travino - amazing striker, fierce competitor and one of the quirkiest players to ever wield a golf club.

If I had to pick a course I have personally played, the course would have to be Eagle Ranch in Invermere, BC (Canada) where precision and accuracy are at a premium and the scenery is even more impressive. If I had to pick a course I have never played, I would like to try my luck at Bethpage Black - it just looks so intimidating.

You guys are gonna think I'm nuts but if I could play with anyone this would be my fantasy 4-ball:

      1. My grandfather who passed away 20 years ago and was my first golfing mentor. We only played together a few times before he passed away. I'd like to play 1ce more to show him what a talented player I am.

      2. Seve 'of old' when he was in his prime. I saw him play and practice and it was a life changing experience. He was AWESOME! His cadd stood in 1 place for each club and hardly moved to pick the golf balls up.

      3. Mark O'Meara. In his prime there wasn't a better ball striker in the game. I have met him a few times and what a great guy. He's a player who gets the job done.

      4. David Duval - great guy, great swing and an awesome talent. As good as Tiger, if not better when his game was on. I love his impact position!

I wouldn't care where I played. The local pay-and-play would be fine.

        Great thread Darrel,

1, Tiger, I think that he is probably a nice guy and it would be interesting to to hit more fairways than him and still finish 10 shots behind.

2, Bill Murray, Bill would definatley take any competivness out of this game, and what a laugh we would have in the 19th. He's also a very talented golfer and actor.

3, Colin Montgomery, He has always been my favorate golfer, I have watched him live many times over the years, I have spoken to him once at a corporate golf day and he was a really nice chap. He will win a major in 2006............

If one dropped out then I would like to bring back Old Tom Morris to see his swing and also his reaction to our greens today, also his face when the two pros score sub 70.

Pebble Beach...........Living and working in the UK, It is unlikley that I will ever get the chance to play this wonderful course.

        Ian.

I think it would be fun to play with
Annika and Freddy Couples both have 2 of the best swings in golf and
Gary McCord - he is a rip.

Gary McCord must be a heap of fun to play with. I have spent some time in a club house sitting close to him and he was like a hyper-active child talking, playing pranks and telling jokes ... he didn't keep quiet or stay still for a second.

He's actually quite a big guy too. I didn't picture him as being 6'2" and 190lbs.

He's a sort-of modern day Lee Trevino, just far less talented as a golfer.

Could you imagine the discussion if the foursome of David Feherty, Gary McCord, Lee Travino and John Daly went for 18 together? There's an idea for a new reality show!

GW Bush. That's one bush I wouldn't mind hitting my balls into all day long.

Retief Goosen. Anyone ever see this guy smile? Last weekend we got behind a couple of guys that had pulled way off from the Tee box to let us play through and as we were leaving the box a couple of us noticed the funny smell. Either they were smokin up or the woods were on fire. I'd tell Retief to join up with those guys

John Daly. Not sure where the guy is from but he would look right at home with the lot I play with; only difference being his score for 18 would reflect mine for 9.

I could substitute GW for Paula Creamer but that would sound dirty.

If I'm paying for the round, it'll be nine at the local muni. But being this is fantasy, I'd have a hard time between Sawgrass and Pebble beach. Why not Augusta with Tiger any time.

My Fantasy 4 Ball would have to be, Old Tom Morris,Ben Hogan,Gary player,Arnold palmer
could you imagine the shots they could make , and wouldn't you just love to listen to the converstions throughout the round that would be truly somethink else. the venue i think would have to be St Andrews the true home of golf, and old Tom could show em all how to play the great course it just seems to have that magical feel about the place and i beleive there really could be no other choice. now i wouldnt mind being a caddy for that day.

I would like to see Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Tiger Woods. If I can play and we get to pick four, I want Annika Sorenstam to join the party. What is nothing better to see old school vs. new school. To bad we can only pick four. I would love to add Payne Stewart, Chi Chi Rodriguez, and Fuzzy Zoeller for a little pizzazz. Where to play? I always thought Pebble Beach is the place to play.
