    My new 5 wood

    I bought a Callaway Big Bertha Fairway 5 wood from my local golf shop a couple of months ago... it was to go with my BB Fairway 3 wood and BB Titanium Driver.

    But I noticed yesterday, that my newest aquisition doesn't have a serial number stamped on the clubhead like my driver and 3 wood do.

    I was wondering if this means it is likely to be a Callaway fake? Is there any way I can tell?

    Honestly I don't know if that would consider it a fake. If it were me I would take it back to the pro shop and ask.

        Apparently, some of the clubheads are manufactured in Australia and get no serial number stamped on them....

          A friend of mines bought a whole set of Taylor Made clubs off ebay for £200, R580 Driver 3 and 5 woods and a full set of graphite shafted RAC OS and a TM putter. I said it was a great deal until I saw them, I havent told him but I am pretty sure they are fakes. The level of detail just isnt right for TM gear which is always superbly finished.

          Be careful on ebay and even in reputable suppliers cos dodgy gear sometimes makes its way into the regular channels. Rule of thumb, if its too good to be true it usually is.

            Thats sounds like a sales pitch to me. I don't think all big golf club companies leave numbers or info of there product.

              just makes it a pain as I have to get the serial number so it's covered under my house insurance!! My other 3 wood and my driver (both big bertha callaways) both have a serial!

              And it was bought from my regular golf shop, who are reputable.

                  6. If the club is a driver, does it have a serial number on the hosel? If you are purchasing a set of irons, does the 8-iron have a serial number on it? If the answer is "no," there is a very high probability that these clubs could be counterfeit. Some counterfeiters are putting bogus serial numbers on clubs. If you have any hesitation, contact your authorized retailer or Callaway Golf Customer Service.

                  7. If the clubs include Hawk Eye VFT Irons, Hawk Eye VFT or Great Big Bertha II Drivers or Fairway Woods, does a magnet cling to them? If it does, the clubs are counterfeit. Authentic Callaway Golf Hawk Eye VFT Irons, Hawk Eye VFT and Great Big Bertha II Drivers and Fairway Woods are titanium, not steel. A magnet will not cling to them.

                    Go back and tell them you want your money back or you will call the police. And then call the police anyway.

                    I bought a fake Mizuno online and it looks identical to the real thing.DO NOT BUY GOLF CLUBS ONLINE!!!!

                      So if you built your own clubs, they wouldn't be covered unless you serialized them?

                      I'd better call my insurance adjuster!

                        I don't know.... I'm guessing so... I'm talking about my house contents insurance though, and they specifically requested serial numbers for everything over a certain value, if it has one....

                        Golf clubs were counted as one thing (maybe because they're always together?), but obviously have more than one serial number.
