  • different tees, same trophy

The older players at my club are moving to #4 tees (5200 yds) and wish to play for the same trophy as those playing from the #3 tees (5900 yds) with their new handicaps, saying the handicap will make up for the advantage. I thought I read somewhere all players playing for the same prize must play from the same tee but can't find where.

Those new tees should adjust the hdcps, that is usually the difference that allows it to be fair.

        Re: different tees, same trophy

At my course there is a Championship Tournament, a Senior Tournament, a Ladies Tournament and a Junior Tournament.

If you are a male, 59 years old, you may only play in the Championship Tournament. A male or female 60 or over can compete for the Championship. Everyone plays from the same tees.

Senior Tournaments exclude everyone under 60.

So tell the old fuddy duds they are welcome to your tournament as long as they can hit it from the same tees everyone else uses. Otherwise, tell them to form their own tournament.
