Bearing in mind I am a 5 handicap I think this is a fair assesment of how my game is split up.
I am a reasonably straight driver of the ball and I average about 260, maxing out at about 290 with a big swat.
My irons are a little weaker, I have good control, but I do suffer a little in terms of distance I am usually a club shorter than my peers.
Chipping is the weakes part of my game, it goes from the sublime to the ridiculous, some days I can chip inside 3 feet everytime, sometimes it goes off the other side of the green.
Bunker play is probably the strongest relative part of my game, I am able to play different shots out of the bunkers, high ones that spin, lower ones that run out. I can pretty much get it out of any lie except plugged in a soaking wet bunker a foot from the face (answers on a postcard about that one).
My putting is average for my handicap to be honest. I am pretty solid from 10 feet and in, my long range putting has its moments but I am one of those people who likes a nice mid pace surface rather than a hard fast surface.
driver...15 slice quite a bit keept me in trouble starting hole
irons ...8 they save me at all cost
chipping..12 good I improve a lot lately
putting 10 ... average two putt 16 of 18 holes is that good?
I would dearly love to be able to hit more consistantly with my irons at the moment Iam playing around 7 shots above my handicap dreadfull stuff , but hey its so nice to be out there playin.
Driver Scratch
Irons 2
Chipping 7
Bunkers 7
Putting 18 (thats probably harsh on 18 handicappers as well)
Play off 5 and shows that my short game is rubbish - i think its due the fact ive only been playing golf for 6yrs and have spent nearly all my practice time at the range and not on the practice ground.
Driver 12 (Good days and bad)
Irons 18 (Sooooooo inconsistent!)
Chipping 6 (I have no choice b/c i'm never on in regulation)
Bunkers 22 (Don't practice enough)
Putting 18 (See irons)
*driving 15 (not consistant! can drive it 260 one day, the next 220 haha..farly straight)
*irons 9 (love my irons...juat had then re-gripped)
*chipping 9(fairly confident with my chipping)
*bunkers 17 (extremely bad....)
*putting 12 (at times i can putt like a god..but then again on some days can putt like a complete beginner haha)
Im confused, shouldnt your average rating be somewhat close to your handicap?
Most people are way off, especially the higher handicaps.
I think people think they are better than they are, but if you are off 25 and all of your ratings are below 20 then you must be pretty ****py at the rules of golf or something.
here is my rating:
1. Driver-scratch
2.irons- 10.
3.chipping-4.
4.bunker-18
5.putting-8
You see what I mean?
The above ratings average to a much better handicap than 18 (assuming you are not in bunkers 20 times a round)
So why are you off 18 and not 12?
