  • Breaking 90!

    Hi All

I have been playing for a couple of years and am now a 24 handicap. I would say that most parts of my golf are pretty average, i can go round without any horror shots, but ive yet to break 90. I always seem to hit 90 - 95. Any tips on how to shave those few shots off?

    Many Thanks

First of all, I would change the picture on your profile, because if you are thinking of her on the course - will add at least 5 strokes. Other than that, short game, short game, short game. Especially chipping.

That pictures brill it sure wouldnt destract me unless she was playing a round with me (Probably end up doing a Nick Faldo with her ).

As to jamin's question then I would ask myself

      1) Where can I improve on.
      2) Whats the worst part of my game.
      3) What is my strongest part of my game.

It also could be that if you say everything is average are you not reading your shots correctly and sometimes try to do shots that end up causing even more problems, instead of playing safe.

Also most people loose strokes in their short game and on the green are you taking to many puts.
Hope it gives you a clue to where your problem might lie.

      Cheers
      Mark

        Re: Breaking 90!

        Thanks for the info

I definately have issues with my short game, i can normally take 2 shots to just off the green then find myself chipping the 2 or 3 putting, where i should be chipping and a one putt!

Think some short game practice is in order now the weather is improving!

        ps: The picture is tasty!

This is mine at the moment:

            Driving - Scratch

            Irons - 3

            Chipping - 5

            Bunkers - 18

            Putting - 8
it is important to rate which part is the worst so you can work on it, just as well it is important to play your strenths to your advantages too. play the course smart, as in the example above. he should work on his sand game but untill he does, since his chipping is pretty good it there is a bunker on the left side of the green, play to err to the right side of the green, if you hit it great, if not your chipping is good so it isn't too big a deal. so work on weakness is important, but don't forget to play your strenths too.
