  • Question about golf balls

I've bought a golf ball marker pen so that I can draw a line around my balls as a putting aid. Thing is, I can't figure out a way to draw a straight line around a ball. Is there another gadget I need, or is there a trick to it? I've got a feeling I'm going to fell really stupid when someone points out how easy it is.

    Re: Question about golf balls

at walmart in the golf section they have these plasti things that sit on the ball and have a slit to mark in and it comes with a sharpie, i think its around 4 or 5$ but u would only need to buy it once

as for right now uh, if your ball has a seam, take a toilet paper roll(i guess its about the same diameter) and stick on the ball where there is nothing but the seam and half the other ball showing, now mark along the seam

ok i just checked and my toilet paper roll works perfect, but if you dont have a seam then just mark through like the writing on the side

Who was it, Pelz I think that showed how to balance the golf ball while floating it in a mixture of water, epsom salts, and a dash of liquid dish soap. This mixture when mixed in the right quanities will float a golf ball. Give the ball a little spin while floating, and when it stops spinning, put a dot with a sharpie on the very top of the ball. This tells you the heavy part of the ball is on the bottom, and the mark shows the lighter side. Draw you a line throught the sharpie mark. Align that line with your target line to gain a truer roll on the green.

Or, there is that ball spinner contraption available (under $30) that will spin the ball for you, and when it reaches maximum rpms, you touch the side of the ball with a pen, and it gives you a line all around the ball. Use that line as discribed above. GJS

Golf balls have a heavy side!!!???

Thanks guys, I've just ordered a thingamajig online to do the job.

Btw, for anyone who hasn't tried marking a line on the ball, to line up putts with, it works great. I was always aligning my putter to the right, this stops me doing that.
