  • David Leadbetter Swing Setter

I have seen a few of you guys mentioning the David Leadbetter Swing Setter.

I have done a bit of research and if we got twelve of us together we can have them for £59.99 + packaging each.

If you are interested reply to this post.

    Re: David Leadbetter Swing Setter

Just to say that at first I was quite sceptical of this aid but having used it and seen what it encourages a golfer to do I would say its really useful

Its KEY point for me is encouraging the player to set his wrists early and get the club up and behind quicker, literally zipping the club around the body. Most people you see try and keep that left arm straight and go 'low and slow' in a misguided attempt at width where this thing helps you get the feel for getting the club set and on-plane far quicker by using a connected body turn rather than a long and disconencted arms led takeaway

would be interested and I do think it is valuable, warning with this, I tried my friends on a high setting, and my forearm hurt for 3 days trying to snap the the magnet.

the cetrifigul force of the magnet snapping at 90 mph will probably hurt some elbows. In the future there will probably be a lawsuit for this very reason

.......it's probably ok if David Leadbetter developed your swing in the first place..........

Every decent player I know who has tried it said it wrecked their swing, even taking into account the built in skeptisism of people, thats hardly a glowing endorsement.

i agree. it is a waste of time. i bought one and used it for around 2-3months. it helped me get back into the game after a while out and helped my consistancy yet it did wreck my swing

This is a little off the topic but has anybody tried the momentus swing trainer. I've been looking for an aid that get me to hit each shot straighter

I use the momentus all the time, especially before the round to help warm up and grove my swing.

i do consider buying a momentus, but can anyone tell me what advantages there are over just swinging 2/3 clubs together as a warm up.

dont want to make my standbag heavier than it already is unless there is a real purpose.

                    cheers

I prefer to swing one club with more mass vs. three separate clubs and three grips that you have to try to hold together; it's one less thing to think about. Also swinging three clubs is just to warm up your body, it does nothing to help you with your actual swing mechanics.

More importantly the Momentus forces me to drop into the slot on the down swing and helps grove my timing and rhythm. It also stops me from trying to swing too hard or too fast since the club is way too heavy for this; I’m forced to be more methodical about my swing with the Monentus. The weight also helps me keep my head down longer while I focus on my swing path through the contact area.

Would you suggest the momentus or medicus? Also i was just wondering if using a medicus driver would be effective with helping you improve driving and all wood and iron shots, or just hitting drives?

                          Re: David Leadbetter Swing Setter

I'm not too keen on spending my hard earned money on gadgets. I bought an inexpensive weighted product called a "Swing Sock" that you can put over the end of an iron. I think it weighs in at about 6 or 8 ounces. It is made of nylon and it just slips over the head of the iron and easily attaches with velcro. Comes off easily and can be stored in your golf bag. It works just as well as the Momentus in my opinion. Or you can go to a hardware store and purchase a 3 or 4 foot length of 1/2" steel bar then slip a golf grip over one end and you now have a cheap golf training aid. My next question is this why not be creative and make your own training aid?

                            hi
try using weights you put on your ankles when running, straps round the club real good and you get two so can add even more weight and there cheap, try wal-mat about £3/£4.
