  • Advice please!

    Hi Guys,

Agood client of mine rang me out of the blue today. A serious golfer,(2 handicap), he has asked me to join his team tomorrow in the city mayors charity classic!! The other team member is 3 handicap. I am bursting to play, but am doubtful about my confidence at the moment. With a handicap of 18, I wonder if I would be able to contribute to this team, and will I relax enough to play well? If I can relax, (the key issue) I should be OK. If I dont!!! Any advice welcome

    Regards,
    Robert

    Re: Advice please!

Think of it this way, aslong as you play to (or near) your handicap you will probably be the best player on the team.
Golf has a handicap system for a reason.
It far easier for you to play to 2 under than it is for the rest of them.
Yet you can still throw in a few pars/birdies which give the team a shed-load of points.
Low handicappers love playing with good high handicappers in team events.

        Re: Advice please!

As an 18 hdcpr, you will do your team more good than bad, as long as you play your normal game. We have a 16 hdcpr who plays with us, and not one tournament had been entered by us where the higher hdcp player did not help us finish high, or win. Any good shots, natural pars, or birdies you score are nothing but pure gravy to your teams' score. Go have fun, as you are there for a reason. GJS
