Im not an expert but i think this is when on the back swing your right arm sticks out horizontal pushing the club to become verticle and off plane.

It is an expression used when you haven't released AFTER impact , usually a fault of slicers because their club face is still open and facing up to the sky and their left elbow is bent and pointing upwards, as opposed to the toe of the club pointing upwards on a normal release.
on the backswing when linkage is lost between elbow and torso is called a FLYING RIGHT ELBOW...
