Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs....

Been playing Callaway x-12's for a number of years....they look ugly till I put them behind the ball.....the results are excellent......I just can't change while they keep feeling great and producing better than any others I've tried.
I never hear anyone complain about callaway irons.

Been playing Callway x-12's for a number of years.....they look ugly till I line them up behind the ball.....results are excellent and the shots feel full with some control (best I can do).....I just can't change while they feel this good and hit so well.

ps.....I never hear anyone complain about Callaway irons.

ps....The real ones are definitely better than clones.

Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs....

95% of golfers are 'brand name whores' (won't buy anything that's not an OEM) which makes all component clubs under rated. Most overrated?? Callaway, Nike and Taylor Made for no other reason than they release a new model every year just to bump up sales.

As for OEM underrated, I would say that the Maxfli Revolution irons are the most under rated irons ever produced. They are truely awesome clubs for what you are able to buy them for.

Most over rated club: The Gap Wedge, I can count the number of players I know on one hand who cut shots from their game using it. Most of the rest were just as handy with their set wedges.

Most Under Rated Club: The Five Wood, seen a couple of single figure guys swap their 3 iron or low lofted rescue for one. Tigger has one in the bag now as well, there can be no better endorsement than that.

Most underated product: Ram Wizard Rescue, handy little clubs that look very good and are hilariously cheap, a good intro to rescue clubs without breaking the bank.

Most overrated product: Callaway Tour Blue putter, it looked like anodised aluminium, felt like ordinary steel and had none of the game improvement characteristics of the Odyssey range, yet it was crafted by supercomputer from a solid block of titanium and cost the same as a foot massage from Madonna. Maybe Callaway got caught up in the 'heck why not, after all they will pay £500 for a driver why not half that for a putter' mood that pervaded the retailers in the late 90's early 00's. I saw one of these at a retail store the other day and it was obviously one of the first delivered, think it was still priced at £149 (probably not far what it cost wholesale) and still no one is biting, not surprising when you can get a white steel 2 ball for £80 or a new 3 ball for £100.

Oh and anything by the Emipre of the Swoosh is over rated as well.................

              Hi all
Any club made by SKYMAX are totally and utterly underrated and are mostly ignored by british golf magazines. I use their 25 degree resue wood and PULSE driver. My good friend Aftford ( GTO member ) plays off 1 h/cap and all his clubs are made by skymax.

              Regards Terry

Just my two cents worth - I've recently bought a set of Tommy Armour Morph irons for $500 here in Oz - thats about mid price range. Used them three times and VERY impressed. Great thing with these clubs is thet start as cavity back in the 3 iron then gradually become a blade by the time you reach pw. Kick point also starts low and works up through the range in rifle shafts. Thats really progressive thinking and design and in my opinion will help the average golfer enjoy his game.
