When I bought my Cobra F-speed, I knew I'd sky it... what I do to prevent marks is use "Meguires" car paint polish on the top of the head, followed up with a carnuba wax...

Make sure you get none on the face of the driver!

Hi Just,

Well my advice before you dip that hand in your pocket and bring out the cash is to slow down your hurry in buying one and dont just buy on name alone.

This probably the most important club you will buy and you want one that will be an aid in the bag and not one that hinders your play.

My fisrt actions would be nip down to your local pro in a golf shop and let him have a look at your swing, then ask him for some suggestions on makes, models, different lofts and price range for your swing. Ask him for about 10 different selections.

Now the most important part try them all out buy hitting some balls, if your local golf shop has a simulator then get on that as it gives you loads of useful information. If they haven't one then ask to hit some balls on a driving range and not in to the net. Why not the net well you cant judge distance (which is why you want a driver in the first place) and also you cant see the flight of the ball, as you might have a hook or a draw in your drive or even a very bad slice. These can be down to your swing but sometimes they can be down to the club as well and with a few adjustments on the club they may be corrected.

When i'm trying to find a driver this is what I do. I ask the pro for 10 clubs for my swing ranging from budget to the latest tour ones. I then hit 10 balls on each driver with a free swing in between balls. This is for feel and judgement of the club. I then pick 3 of the ones I liked that hit great shots with. I then hit a further 10 balls on these clubs and see whihc one gives me consistancy as well as increase in distance. Then hay presto you have found a driver that suits you..

Hey Just JDM... I noticed you are in Atlanta, and there are three Golfsmith stores near you. I know the one in Kennesaw has the club fitting monitors, etc. (probably the others too... that's the only GS I've ever visited), I know my fitting session was free. I'm really just reiterating what MarkC13276 mentioned, but if you are like I was when I started, I felt pretty stupid in the smaller proshops so the larger stores were more comfortable to me. Go and ask lots of questions, hit several drivers, and see what you like. Take advantage of your location!
