  • Heat - Humidity - Golf balls - Distance???

Does anyone know how much the climate/heat effects ball distance?
Yesterday early evening 6pm I was driving range balls into the fence (20ft above ground level about 10 yards behind the 250 marker) Later on at about 8:30pm when I got back to hitting my driver, I was having a hard time rolling a ball up to the fence.

During the same day? The temp can't make that much of a difference. The hotter it is the higher the compression, but you realy have to heat it up. Winter you have to play a lesser compression just to compress it, so this is not it.

Over 2 hours, you must have hit several buckets. Maybe the batch you got early was a better set of balls...

The only other thought is humidity. Maybe a fog rolled in? That can hurt distances.

      Hi Greg,

      Thanks for your reply.

Yes, same session, I hit about 360 balls that day, off real grass. oh, and I was pitching from 50 yards out for an hour and then did about 50 bunker shots.
It was a nice day, no fog.
Sure is weird tho, how the ball flight can be so inconsistent.

I'll bet you are right and I burned myself out hehe
I just thought that all out in replying to you,

      Thanks Greg!!

In my profile there is a site that has a tool called the VLM that allows you to adjust air pressure and temperature in order to see how distance will change with weather changes. You can't alter humidity (it is set at 50%). It is pretty accurate too.
