  • my golf outing

    hi all
last sunday my golf outing started out like i was in the zone from the beginning, hitting every shot so pure i was hitting my irons so sweet. anyway, that day i was 4 over after going in to 16 easy hole down hill stait away,380 yds. i hit my drive down the middle about 265, pitching wedge going in.bang hosel rocket (shank)to the right,i ended up making an 8 on that hole then bogey 17 and 18,ended up shooting 81.the course is a par71.after that round my confidence was shattered. its not the first time i hit a shank, but how can you be playing so well and ten hit a shot like this, it destroys your love of the game.how to become shank free, this is the question i ask.

man the only thing i can say is later in the round you start to get tired and sometimes you may not make a full shoulder turn on your shots(i know i dont sometimes when fatigue sets in)..this will lead to a shank due to you getting lazy with your swing and trying to swing it with your arms.Just what i found in my own experience-David

      thanks david
thats a good way of looking at it. i do walk the course and it is very hilly. i never really thougt to much about fatigue, and today i was hitting balls at the range on real grass, and as i was getting ready to swing, i would loosen the tension on my grip and i was hitting them high and strait. i need to start thinking tension free and nice shoulder turn.
