    Johnnie Walker Tornament

    While watching this tournament on TV, I was amazed to see paul casey hitting a 6 iron on a par 3 201 yds. However, it was downhill and slight wind. Then monty takes out a 4 iron, same hole. Both hit the green about 5 yds to the flag. The point i am making is, everyone is different even the pros. The secret they have is consistency and no doubts in their swing. If we could take a lesson from these guys our game would improve no end.

    Oh well, back to work now!!

    Hi Robert,

    it's a good point you make, Casey is clearly very long off the tee, the lesson for all is have a plan and stick to it no matter what your partners do. It does take a while to hit an iron when the rest of the group are hitting driver, somehow you feel intimidated, but you must stick to your plan.

    I tee off with 2 iron on 5 no matter what anyone else does..............!!

      this is very true there does seem to be some variation in the pro's as well. like when casey hit 1 drive at the jonny walker something like 367 yards then monty hit 300 yards at which point i was like "pathetic"

        Fahie,
        I think this was a prime example of the age difference between these two guys. The older you get you have to make adjustments to keep scoring well, e.g. taking longer irons than you did at a younger age

          very true. however im sure monty never hit it as far as casey does now. i think all the younger golfers are being taught to hit the ball a hell of alot further then montys generation. this is more a requirment with courses being constantly lengthened.
