    chip-in made my day

    Played my normal round today: brief moments of brillance, followed by long stretches of suckiness. One of those brief moments of brillance was a chip-in (my first). It was for a bogey, but still fun. It was fairly short chip in (maybe 15 feet). I started calling it right off the club. It was nice because it wasn't a straight in chip. It landed, rolled, broke a bit and then holed.

    On the next hole (par 3) , I hit in a greenisde bunker and had a great out from there - landed and stuck it within four feet, but blew the putt, and settled for bogey.

    Very happy with my chipping and bunker play today.

    Nice work Greg, keep it up. It's nice to mask some bad putting by skipping that step altogether. What club did you use to chip it in?

      Thanks. I use my sand wedge for chipping around the green. I have a Lob Wedge in my bag, but have never felt comfortable with it. I need more practice.

        Hi Greg - I know the feeling.

        I had my first true chip in a couple of weeks ago. I missed a par 3, then chipped on, watched it ride the ridge, then die into the hole. Perfect.

        I've putted lots of balls in from off the green, but there's nothing quite like using proper chipping technique to get it done!

          I finding chipping in always comes in spurts. If I chip one in, I usually get another one in the next round or two.

          My first time out this year I chipped one in, the next time out I chipped 2 in....haven't come close since.

            i had a 70 yarder thatjust had the legs to drop in the hole it felt great bui it would have felt even better if it hadnt have been for bogey!

              Congratulations on the chip in. Develop confidence and you will chip in more. Keep your technique simple and, again, you will chip in more. I am good for a few chip ins a year. I used to be real good at this when I was playing 100 rounds a year back in the late 80's/early 90's. My playing parners knew I would chip in at least once per round. Good gosh, I miss those times.

                i agree that when u chip in u usually get a couple i had a stretch where i chipped in 6 rounds in a row but this year am yet to chip in. my best chip in was a year and a half ago, had only been playin a couple of months 100 yards out did not yet have anything loftier than a PW so half to 3 quarter PW bounced twice and then in the hole for birdie previous to that the hole was going terrible so u can imagine my delight when that one went in
