  • How do you play on a rock hard golf course ?

Anybody got any tips apart from give up playing until it rains ?

I played today and while everybody else seemed to be all over the place from the tee, I managed to hit nearly every fairway. Yet my score was terrible. I hit shot after shot that was going straight for the flag only to see the ball bounce sideways into trouble. If your not on the green then you have no chance of saving par and most times you have to aim away from the flag. An example is this : I had a wedge shot at the 12th and I hit the ball really high expecting to get a softish bounce. No Chance ! I landed the ball 20 yards shot of the green and still finished 15 yards past the flag. For some reason most of the flags were about 5 feet from the front as well.

I think these conditions are putting 10 shots onto my scores and this is the time of the year when I thought I was going to start scoring well.

look at is as learning a different style to play. Maybe hit some low runners or putt from 100 yards

      You could be right.

Today I used a 5 iron off the first tee. I've never done that ever. The hole is 350 yards. My second shot was only a 9 iron !

I guess using a putter will stop bad bounces !

I am having the same troubles on my course mate. It is ROCK SOLID! The greens are faster than augusta LOL! The ball travels miles, I neevr know what club to use and the worst part is, this year I real want to get my handicap down loads, im 7 handicap now i wanted to be at least 3 handicap by the end of the year but the conditions are real tough.

Gota use a HIGH SPINNING BALL like pro v1 and start playing some low bump and runs into the greens.

With using the Putter off the tee you'll have to take care not to hit the Mole Hills, back kick.

I played 2 rounds today. From 60 yards and in I used a 4 iron and just hit the ball along the ground to try and eliminate bounces. The results were pretty good. It's crazy because in winter these shots would go about 5 yards not 60 !

This morning there was a bit of jew on the ground so the course played alot easier. My score was 8 shots better than my comp round on Sunday. Typical !

My, my.... Are yall playing in my neck of the woods? I live in West Texas. Ever heard of the Texas wedge? Putting from off the green. I look foward to my little trip to Austin, Texas in a couple of weeks. I hear they have grass in the fairways. Chip and run man, chip and run. How about a 100 yard 7 iron? We usually play off rocks, ant beds and mesquite. Okay, I might be exaggerating, but the lack of water out here makes for poor golf courses esp. in the early spring. Good thing is I play year round. I might get drilled by the other guys but, try this...
Play the ball back in your stance. Open your stance. Open the club face, just a little. Pick a lower loft club and take a 3/4 swing. Oh yes....Aim a little left...fade man fade. Or you might move it foward, but beware....you have to go get it. Don't lag behind!
