Some say that Tiger is at times cold and emotionless; I liked the way the world was able to see the emotional side of who he is inside. It was an amazing win, and I was happy to see that he has a solid support group around him now that his father has passed. As Steve Williams said coming up the 18th green "this one's for pops".

I think he will keep the exact same approach, play the course quite a bit so he knows it very well, then sit down with his coach/coaches and go over every hole and develop a game plan for each individual hole.

To me the plan simply was lets hit the fairways and greens, take the trouble out of play. Score on the short par fives and have a few more birdies then boogies on the rest.

The person who suprised me the most was Els. During their saturday round, Ernie starts the day 1 back. Tiger is hittitng Irons all day, Ernie is hitting driver spittting the fairway (can't remember him having a bad drive) 30-50 yards ahead of Tiger. Had wedge in hand most of the day and simply could not take advantage of the situation. He must have hit his 5 worst wedges off his life. He really should have had a lead heading into Sunday.

        Hi Guys
Tiger's win at the British Open was a lesson in focus, following the game plan and expert course management. He showed his mastery with 4 fantastic rounds on a hard, dry Hoylake course. He and Chris Di Marco handled the emotion of their recent loss quite well to achieve victory over the world's best.

I think the "flaw" in Ernies game plan was that on dead, burnt, rock hard greens a full wedge isnt much of an advantage...you wanna be bouncing a 7 iron short of the green and letting it run out to the flag...

I thought I saw Ernie and a few other do this at times but some didn't seem to judge it correctly and ran off the back of the green. At times it looked like Tiger hit some shots a bit higher so they'd land with very little spin; did I see this correctly?

              Hi Al
              You are absolutely correct.
Tiger realised as early as last monday just how firm the greens were ( TV coverage on local news ) . He must have decided there and then that the only way to hold the greens would be to float them in from high.

              cheers

                I agree.

Tiger is a super professional athlete. But when push comes to shove, he is still a human being with feelings and emotions like the rest of us.

It takes a great man to allow the world to see his 'weaknesses', and obviously, Tiger is a great man.

Good to see that both Steve and Elin had the cool to let him take his time to regain a bit of composure.

Also very nice to see Tiger having a place in his victory speech to express his sentiment to Dimarco (who by the way played a brilliant tournament).

                Class act all the way!

Tiger hits the ball much higher than anyone else.
They showed a comparison of Tiger and Ernie hitting to one of the par 3's
They both hit 7i but Tigers was much higher than Ernies and held the green, meanwhile Ernie's bounced off the back...

Re: TIGER WOODS, Irons from the tee

                    Hi all,

Well I was there on Sunday the course facilities where outstanding, no qeues to get in and seeing a few of Tigers Tee shots. Absolutly arwsome. Wish he could teach me to hit them like that anyway.

I really think that tigers game plan for the course is what made him win it. The reason being that this course had loads of OBA's on it and bunkers of your worst nightmares (If i played it I would probably do it in over 150 because of them)

Yes by the 4th day it was looking a bit too dry for me but as my mate said this is what the R&A love to have links courses go like (ie they hardly water it) just a shame there was no wind.

Also one of the key factors is that yes tiger can drive 400 yrds but his control of the ball flight is not as good as with his iron play. The one thing that let him down was his putting espcially on the 3rd day where he should of done 1 putts instead of 2/3.

All in all I am over joyed as well, as I won £70 on tiger from backing him right from the start so it made my Sunday just a shame about the stupid fathers to justice demonstration.

Well cant wait till the next one near me which is in Birkdale in 2008
                    Cheers
                    Mark
