  • Your thoughts on modern day golf clothes

    Hi All,

Well I was quite shocked to hear about what happened to my mate at a golf club today. He told me that he was about to play in a works comp at a course on the wirral (Caldy) and when he got there one of the members that was in the pro shop in the club told him to change his shirt. The reason was that his shirt was not allowed on the course because it had no collar. He was wearing a nike top designed by tigger woods ie TW logo on it and clearly told that it was bought from a golf shop and in fact tigger wore one at the open just that his was a different colour. Still he was asked to change his shirt lucky for him he had a polo shirt with his works logo on it.

Now I would like to know other peoples thoughts on this should the rules be changed so that these new golf shirts are allowed on the course.

    Cheers
    Mark

      Your quite right bill,

As long as your dress smart then I see no problem with it.

I completely agree. A lot of the course staff would also see this if they weren't to busy looking down their noses at the issue.

Yeah, some clubs can be a bit extreme, lost in a time warp in the past. We must be flexible enough to encourage those with a preference for more casual attire to enjoy the game.

p.s. - check the thread - "Collar or roundneck" for some interesting comments on the subject.
