    Re: A Poll>>>Do you shoot 70,80, 90, or above

I score in the mid 90's, but I play mainly for fun with my son and sometimes very non competitive friends. We all can do better, but we are also involved in other sports, which accounts in some measure for the high handicap. However we all LOVE golf!

I play around 100. Like DeWalt, I'm better at making tools than using them!

Best round is 81 which I did a few times. I usually play in the low to mid 80's with the occasional round in the low 90's. My objective is to play in the high 70's (i.e. 79 or 78... once in a while would be nice). But then again, high score or low score, I just love the game.

Playing from the blue tees over the last 4 months (since I've been back to golf), I've shot between 83 - 93. Last few 18's course rated 70/121 I've shot 91 - 89 - 88. I might move up to the white tees as I'm not hitting the driver that well these days. My official handicap is 12.7, but I've not been playing well in the last month. I either seem to have no touch with the wedges/putter or I can't hit a fairway off the tee. It goes back and forth as to which one I'll not have going for me in a round.

I think I've developed some swing problems I need to fix, before I start back to scoring well again.

I am 65ys old ,best score this year 76,average score 81.35 years ago in England, i was breaking 70 of forward tee's.Today i play in hot weather, ball flies further, makes it abit easier. Its compulsory to have caddies here, that helps. So when you ask about scores,i suppose other factors come into the equation.

Have only been playing regularly (read fortnightly) since mid August this year, following a 3 year period where I didn't touch a stick and lost my 15 handicap. Since starting again, I am averaging 91 for 18 holes (Par 72) with a high score of an even 100 and a low score of 82. My current HC is 18 and I am hopeful that I can get back to my 14-15 mark soon...

Ive always wanted to really know what the average player shoots but I think to do that we should only include "average" players which means the once a week golfer. Scratch golfers throw the whole average off, just a suggestion. I play the average 4-6 times per month, been playing for a little less than a year and shoot a consistent 84-90 on several courses that I play.

For me, if you want an "average", then its one in all in...

For every scratch golfer out there, there are 5 "weekend warriors" with a social club handicap of 27 or higher.

Read an article some time ago that claimed the average golfer was a member of a club, played 4-6 times a month and had a playing handicap of somewhere about 17 or so. I don't recall what the base group for this average was or the mag I read it in, but, it's a starting point if anyone wants to run with it...

                          Cheers

That sounds very accurate, those are my stats almost completley, I play 4-6 times a month and my handicap is a 15.6. By the way hows that Ping eye 1 iron treating you?

That 1 iron is my favourite stick in my bag... I love it!!!

So much so that my driver and 3 wood are currently having a little "holiday" in the shed at home...

Wow...thats awesome! I tried one out at the range for maybe 20 swings, hit one ball solid but only around 220 and im a long hitter. Maybe the famous 1 iron is like most everything in golf....mental. Just bought a Ben hogan 2 Iron hybrid and love it to death but cant do much with the 1 or 2 iron. But anyway, sounds like you have a fine swing...good to hear.
