  • What score/handicap ?

A difficult question to answer but let's have a go anyway.

What score/handicap would you expect to be getting after 18 months of playing this wonderful game of golf.

I've been playing exactly 18 months now and my best score is 13 over par (i've achieved this twice).

if your breaking 100 honestly after 18 months I would say thats pretty good.

Without lessons I think breaking 100 after 18 months is probably about as well as to be expected. With lessons I would expect to be shooting around 90.

It really all comes down to what you put into it. After 18 months even without lessons if you work on your chipping/pitching/putting 3 to 4 times a week you'll probably be shooting close to 90 no matter what you do off the tee.

13 over par is fabulous - if it's an 18-hole par 72 course with a decent rating.

it all has to do with how much you practice and put into it, i practice every day, gifted with good eye hand coordination and luck i would call it and am shooting mid 70s after only playing since last september

what i am saying is with hard work you can do anything

I totally agree with the practice theory. Ive been playing for 10 months and my low is 81 but 90% of the time its between mid 80s-low 90s and thats with several lessons, practice range 5 times per week, 4-6 rounds of golf a month and living and breathing golf. Takes more time than people think. Its different for everyone, if your really gifted (2% of the population) you should be a scratch golfer within 18 months but how many of us are? Hard work should get you in the 80s in 18 months.
