I find this game so frustating sometimes! I know many of us struggle with consistency but I can't imagine anyone is nearly as inconsistant as me. Two Saturdays ago I shot 88 for a net 67 off the competion tees. This Tuesday n/r, Wednesday n/r. I reckon I wouldnt have even broken a hundred for these two rounds! This Saturday off the competiton tees again shot a gross 83 meaning a nett 63 with a tripple and two double bogeys in the last four holes? I arrive at the course nowadays with not the slightest idea of how I'm going to play.

how many times do we here that statement?
we only get out what we put in!
can you honestly say that your level of concentration was identical on all these rounds. is your preshot routine well and truly dialled in?
i have the same feelings! i know that if i take my time to set up properly for every single shot then im going to score reasonably well but complacency creeps in and before you know it your grip, posture or alignment are slightly out and therefore a bad shot follows.
when i have a bad round i can usually point to areas where not enough care was taken setting up!
just my honest opinion

Re: Don't understand!
You dont see many bad players with a good set up. If your set up is good and consistent chances are you will be. But the problem is most people, and I include myself. take set up for granted all too often, when it is the whole foundation for the golf swing

Re: Don't understand!
Hi Folks
A good set up sets the foundation for a good swing, neglect your ser up and you are not giving youself the best possible oppertunity to play at your best.
A good set up will never become second nature , it is something that has to checked on every single shot. Never make a practice swing without using the correct set up , this will lead to sloppy set up when you play the shot for real. Sinse most swing faults can be traced to a poor set up, it makes good sence to practice our set up at every oppertunity.
cheers

Re: Don't understand!
I have to say something is odd. If you can shoot in the 80's you basically have to have a pretty consistent swing and setup. Even if you weren't paying the utmost attention to setup, it is hard to believe you would not be able break 100. One the days that you are so off, what is the primay problem? Is it short game, poor driving, poor iron play?? We may be able to hone it done more.

Re: Don't understand!
I'll take a stab at the problem. On the days you have a controlled fade your shoulders are square to very slightly open. On the days your have a slice, your shoulders are very open to the target. You will need someone to check this. Hope this helps. Also, try and hit the inside quarter of the ball.
