I said why? he said look at tiger and look at donald, Donald was laughing and smileing at the croud and jokeing with his caddy, Tiger was just focused so so hard.

Sergio and ernie and goosen are the same! Laughing and jokeing with the caddy, smiling with the crowd! F**K the crowd and caddy, your trying to beat tiger woods here, and if your going to have that relaxed attitude you have lost before you have started!
do you work with him on meditation? I would suspect, if he is enlightened, the he woudl not push it on you but wait untill you ask to learn.

        Well done to Tiger.

Having said this though there must be consideration given to the resources and equipment that all eras have access to.

Comparison of one golfer with another from a different time is hard.

          hi
was watching a flim clip of billy casper last night and he was hitting his drives 300+ yards. his shortest drive was 293 yards and that was back in the 60s without all the tech stuff we have now. also was only a few weeks ago the garry player shot a 68 round in the scottish masters, and garry,s 72 years old now, can you imagin what he would be like now if he was in his 20s. i do think most of the great player would stand up there with tiger, i know tiger is more athletic than players of old. but garry player was and still one of the fittest playes around, even at 72 years old.
hogan use to pratice for hrs in his hotel room ever night during a tour match, trevino hit 1000s of balls a day when he first started playing, he would spend up to 14 hrs on the range shaping shots. there are still lots of records of low scores form the 60s,70, and 80s that have not been beat. i am sure they will over time, like the vardon when you have to shoot every round in under 70, trevino did it twice i think with an avg of 69.45, thats over a year. dont think tigers won that yet but could be wrong.

Not taking ANYTHING away from any former players. A lot of them would be able to stand up....but certainly not any better than today’s players. IMO, modern sports are played at a much higher level now, than in the past, and inevitably this means a better field and tougher competition.

              hi kbp
if the player of years ago were playing today they would also have to go through the collage system we now have and be taught the right way to swing and in the right swing plane, there is a lot more coching nowadays and not always good coching. a lot of good touch golfers are coched out of the game as there swing is not as some teachers see as it "as IT should be" or have there touch trained out then to have the RIGHT swing.
TREVINO, BALLESTROS AND PALMER AND NORMAN , all had somthing diffrent but all were same at impact. i do feel there are so many young player comming it the factory looking the same and with the same faults in there game. tiger does stand out as being heads about all the players playing today. he is also so focused on his game and sticks to his plan, as did jack many years before him. we are so lucky in the golf world having so many of the great player still playing and see how there game falls away with age i thing we forget just how good they all where in the 50s 60s 70s and 80s the golden years of golf when there was 8/9 guys winning every other week, sadly tiger has only himself to push him as all other players seem unable to keep focused and match his amazing golf game. lot of very very good player around just now but i dont think there are so many great player as in say 20 years ago, i dont think the standard has has improved, i do think the player train better and are lot fitter and more athletic the before. thereclubs match there swing more and every player has a trainer and the club maker to tweek there clubs.
who it best players ?? the 60s 70s or the players on the 90s and 2000.
if they played a ryder cup type game with the best player from both i wonder who would win, that would be someting to see.

There is no question this man is the business. However I dont think there is enough strength on the ryder cup team to compliment tigers ability and win the event. Anyway, its in Ireland, and with clarke and harrington on the team its a foregone conclusion!

I do not think it is a matter of not enough strength, more like will the top 2 (Phil and Tiger) players take it serious enough to prepare for the match like it is a major? Because most everyone on the Europe side will. That is US's big down fall in the past they just show up to the match with little prep on the course and lack the emotion that Europe has the first couple days. Your not going to be able to spot Europe points and expect to rally in the singles matches.

i do think tigers the best by far but think jack had it harder as he had lots of great player at the top of there game challenging him ever week there is no one even close to tiger. yes i agree if he keeps fit he will beat jack by 2010
                    bill
I think 'pure dominance" of the field in the last ten years by Tiger makes us think there are no challengers like Jack had. The good players are there but Tiger has distanced them. When he plays good, he plays in a different league.
