Tee the ball pretty low. 3 woods are designed to be hit off the turf, so tee the ball pretty low. I generally tee it up slightly higher than I do with an iron off the tee.

i haven't got a driver yet so have to go with the 3 wood!

I like to use the coloured castellated tees as it is easy for me to attain a repeatable tee height for each club without much fuss. I use the long silver ones for my driver, yellow for 3 wood, blue for 5 wood, red for 7 wood and all irons.

I'm with danny. I'd tee it up to simulate a slightly flufflier-than-perfect lie. Just to get 'er up, just a bit.

I agree with everyone else and would add that the desired ball flight might dictate the teeing height. You can tee it a bit higher and put it more forward in you stance to fly it higher or tee it down and a bit left of center for a normal, lower flight.
