Lefty posted in the 'Grip' forum about Left below right Golfers in Ireland.

"A professional I spoke to a while back seemed to think that a lot of Irish players use my 'upside down' grip and apparently it works fine for them."

The reason for this is the game of Hurling, where you hold the stick left below right and hit a Sliothar (ball).
So a lot of guys when they reach mid 30's 40's give up Hurling and take up golf and keep the same grip.
The only time I use the grip is when I use a left handers golf club to escape the butt of a tree etc.

Read a nice piece in Harvey Penick's Little Green golf Book about crosshanders and children.
Some kid called Tracey Philips was a x-hander as a kid but changed over when he was 9.
He still chips and putts x-handed and won the National junior and Worldcup junior.

I have a good friend that plays off 4 that is right handed and plays the right hand above the left.

Each too his own I say.

Maybe he did not grow up lol....
