Any comments on the plane truth Just another gimmick or does it work? The golf channel has a ad, this product revisits the concept of a 2 or 1 plane swing for different people.

I read the book. It just confirmed for me my natural tendency towards a 1 ps.

Is the book related to the gentleman that has the Video product advertised on the Golf channel? I would assume that he wrote the book?

          Re: The Plane Truth

I've read the book and have seen the info commercial on the golf channel. Jim Hardy is the author and I assume designed the DVD. The one and two plane swing have been discussed on this forum ad nauseum. I would assume there is some validity to breaking down the swing into these 2 categories. Hardy is a well respected pro and has the endorsement of some excellent tour players. Yes, I know they are getting money for their endorsements, and maybe I am naive, but I am not cynical enough to believe this is the only reason. However, I think the basic problem with implementing Hardy's instruction, is that most golfers would be unable to identify what kind of plane they swing on to begin with. In addition, trying to implement a one plane swing, I believe can get you into positions that are conventionally hazardous to the swing. I think you will be doing more harm than good trying to do this yourself, and I would only work on changing to one or two plane with a PGA pro that understands and is convinced their are fundamental differences between the two swings. Of all the pro responses on this site, I have yet to here any of them mention their advised contingent on a one or two plane swing.

Interesting that Jim Hardy has had some influence on Hank Haney. Hank is quite a teacher even before Tiger came along.
I would like to know if anyone out thier has had a positive experiance with the plane truth golf products.

            Thanks

                    Re: The Plane Truth

                    Dear MPLAVLEGL,

I have read the book you are about to waste your $25 on. Trust me, it is the biggest piece of golf rubbish I have ever read. If you were close enough to me I would give you mine.

First of all, I really agree with msklar92, in that if you are not at the pro level and have a high visibility coach at your disposal, you will not be able to tell which way you are hitting from, 1P or 2P. Do you really think you will be able to totally overhaul your swing by reading a book? Be truthful.

Now back to the book. I started reading the book with the same enthusiasm you have. It wasn't long that I found things in it that really made me skeptical. As an illustration, he claims that when you are adapting the 1 Plane swing a slight reverse pivot is not only acceptable but good. That is only one example. I was going to dig out a few more, but I just don't have the time right now.

Spend your money on something other than this crumby book.
