Re: I Want To Enjoy Golf Again!

I have now become a member at a golf course which has GOOD PRACTICE facilities cradoc golf club. My old club didnt have any practice facilities and I think this is one of the reasons i got bored because I LOVE to practice! I think my problem was: I actually got bored playing on the COURSE so often! Now on the chipping green I can play fun shots, but the funnest shot is seeing how far I can spin the ball back from a 40 yard bunker shot!! Thats fun! haha!

It has big chippign area, driving range, big putting green and the course is AWESOME, it feels like more of a course which is professional standerd when my old course didnt really have that feeling. And because I do want to be a professional when I am older I do have to start playing professional standerd golf courses.

BrianW, ive never played Monmouth course and now you have said its very hilly I dont think I ever will LOL! My new home course is awesome, it used to be a championshio course and it was voted WELSH GOLF CLUB OF THE YEAR in 2005 i think. You should try and play it one day www.cradoc.co.uk .

Wow, ricky that seems like quite a short course, but it probably has its dangers to penalize the long hitters.

Re: I Want To Enjoy Golf Again!

There isnt any real long courses around where i live, my old course was 5400 yards and held a professional tournament 2 years ago and not one pro shot below -1 mainly because it didnt hav enay par 5's! That is another reason why I want to be a member at cradoc is because it has par 5s and i can shoot alot lower on it so i can get my handicap down quicker lol. Cradoc course isnt really that tough to be honest but it is real nice, real nice greens, great fairways and plenty of fairway bunkers to catch you out!

I can understand your feelings about not having competition when playing alone. Been there, and done that. But as a 6 handicap, you might want to generate your own competition as the the golf course is beating you by those same 6 strokes on the average. The course is there to be beaten by shooting sub par rounds. It is a decent accomplishment to beat an individual, but when put par on the losing end, that is a greater accomplishment, as "old man" par will always be your toughest opponent. GJS

My main goal for this winter is to break par and I know it is very easily possible for me to do it. Like today for example I did 9 holes after practice in the morning and I was -1 for 9 holes, its just holding it together for the rest of the round that I struggle with sometimes.

As long as I keep practicing as hard as I can this winter, next summer breaking par is going to be normal for me.

              Hi Ricky,
You are already at a level that most of us aspire to, so it seems that you have learnt and developed a lot for your age. Maybe you can channel some of the negative feelings into doing something charitable - like assisting on a coaching programme for underprivileged youths who would like to play, but cannot afford lessions.

The benefits will redound to both parties and you will be blessed for your efforts.

Speaking of challenges, wasn't it you who said you would break 54 soon?
