  • front foot lifting at impact

i have seen long distance comp drivers hitting over 350 (so reverse pivot is not an issue) but i don't know how but i have seen there left foot go up right after impact and lift off the ground. has anyone even seen this before, or am i alone on this?

    can anyone explain that?

i will look for some pic/ vids if i can

here tiger seems to almost do it http://beauproductions.com/golfswingsws/ if you click on Tiger's perfect golf swing

    Hi,

I have a problem understanding this. How can their front foot come up when their weight is on it, do you mean they lift onto their toes?

see it with all long driver champions, it definatly not because of reverse pivot. they are unleashing so much force and speed into there swing, thats what is causing foot to come up, if you look at all of them there back feet are on toes or off the ground completely. isky one thing ide like to see off you is to forget about distance and swing mechanics and just work on swingingthru the ball to a balanced finish. i dont know how you can hit the ball at all with all the things you have going thru your mind. just swing within yourself with good balance and youll be amazed at the results you will have.

well if you use your legs like springs through the swing and release them at impact believe me your feet and come off the ground

Re: front foot lifting at impact

for some players they squat down with their head and upper body so much that they have to lift up right before the ball and do it so violently that they will jump up after impact. If they did not do this they woudl dig trenches. Laura davis does this big time. Many tour players do this to varying degrees

You are seeing a prime example of Newton Law in effect, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. These players are swinging down with so much force, it actually counters thier body weight. Most people will never achieve this much force. Thats is why these players have extemely high clubhead speed. If you were to put these folks on a scale and as an example thier static weight to the ground at address was 180 pounds, at impact that would register 20 or 30 pounds to the grounds, hard to believe, but true. You will notice they also come back down at the completion of the swing in balance, some with a slight recoil back to the back foot, but in balance for the most part, they don't fall forward onto toes, or backwards onto the heels.

Some points to take to account:

                        1) Ball height on the tee. Completely over driver head height.

                        2) Impact position. ( both heels lift off the ground, hips not facing the target yet, right wrist hinged to the ball, no hands rotation).

                        3) Walking towards the target after finish.

                        My veredict:

Powerful swat when the cluhead is travelling upwards.

Upper body action with a very good lag on the downswing.

Huge centrifugal force at the bottom of the swing, powered by the downswing; and centripetal force or ''pull the rope'' effect, that accelerates the clubhead through the impact ( both heels lift up ).

Powerful weight shift making our man walk towards the target. ( Seve Ballesteros used to do it in a time ).

                        Toni.

But don't forget the ball is high positioned on a tee and the clubhead is traveling upwards.

i finally figured out how to do this toaday! refer to this post and vijays "pinching" here http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/g...e-studies.html and as i was pinching on the DS if i kept my spine angle i natuarlly just jumped. it was so wierd, i was working on my pinching and keeping into the shot and and my legs just naturally lifted off the ground just like in those videos. the "jump" itself doesn't give you any power but the pinching while rotating hard that makes you jumpgives you some good power and acuracy as it helped me clear my body out of the way to hit down the target line.
