Do you need to be rescued from the fairway?.
Maybe there design suits a ball lying in the rough and not on the fairway?.
What degree loft is the Taylor made rescue club..I always thought the shape of rescue clubs were a little odd myself.

I think those clubs are weird science. Like the Ilsnad of Dr. Moreau for golf clubs. They are suppose to replace the lower lofted irons (2,3,4) with more of a fairway wood feel. Also since the sole is wider, and center of gravity lower, Easier to hit.

I did some testing on these clubs. I did a data study with 25 golfers of varing handicaps:

Only 5 out of 25 really liked the club
18 out of 25 had great difficulty hitting it
the other 2 were neutral

Yardages with a comparable lofted iron/wood:

All hit shorter than with the comparable club.

Accuracy with a comparable lofted iron/wood:
12 hit it closer to the center line
3 hit it farther away from the center line
10 about the same.


Same stance and setup as the comparable iron. Some models the shafts were shorter, the extra mass in head would make up the distance difference.

I guess these clubs came down to what is the comfort level with the club. I don't think these are as popular today as a few years ago. You know boys and their toys. Got to try the latest greatest.
