  • Wrist position at address

I am just wondering what position the wrists should be in at address- mine tend to be a little cupped. But I have seen some pros whose wrists are basically straight down which makes the club look to be in a more upright position. When I try that though the wrists seem to feel rigid. What should I be aiming for in regards to getting the wrists in the best position?

that is all person dependent. Personally I set my hands up in the middle of my body, like hogan and many others. sergio set his up a little farther further and nickalaus even further forward

I was looking more from the view behind the player, not front on. A guy like Aaron Baddeley seems to have his wrists facing straight down, where as mine seem to be cupped a bit.

Look at these links and truly understand your grip.

        http://www.pga.com/improve/tips/setu...ajar100504.cfm

        http://golfzone.sportsradio1300.com/tips5.html

They could be entitled "Proper Grip", "Strong v Weak Grip" and "Lining up the V's".

Most people are going to have some kind of cup in the right wrist but the amount is depending on whether your "weak" or "strong". Strong - More cup, Weak - Less Cup.

Thanks cmays. Those articles are really descriptive and have helped me understand the grip much better.

I agree with C Mays. The role of the hands in golf has been dimished over the years, in favour of big muscle swings.

I am going to get an old car tyre and educate my hands the Henry Cotton way.
