    Favourite Course?

    Whats your favourite Golf Course?

    Mine will have to be St Andrew's, Augusta or Pebble Beach

    Never been to Augusta or Pebble beach. They both certainly look beautiful. Went to St Andrews last year for the open. Fife is a very beautiful part of the world and St Andrews is a great looking course. It’s very short though. We saw many players going for a lot of greens off the tee. It really needs the weather to defend it. Got some proper bunkers. Bunkers that loose you shots. Not those bunker in the US that pros aim for to play safe. It’s not great for spectators though. St Andrews does have an aura about it. I love to play it someday. So I may be biased but I’m going for St Andrews. Also if you do ever go to St Andrews not to far is a great little 9 hole course. Anstruther golf Club, it’s cheep and cheerful. It runs right along side the firth of forth, it’s got a few scary tee shots. It’s not St Andrews but most people can afford to play there.

      The K Club, this year's Ryder Cup venue, looks mighty fine. As far as North America goes, I'd say Glen Abbey... for "the valley". The valley is known as the toughest 5 hole stretch in all of championship golf.

      Might as well add Pinehurst #2.

        For what it represents, St Andrews. I'm gonna play the old course next year.

        Birkdale is an amazing course. I'm lucky that I have the golf coast within 45 mins drive so I'll be doing Lytham, Birkdale and Hoylake in '07.

        Royal North Devon (westward Ho!) because its the craziest golf course in the world.

        Favourite non-Uk courses:

        Valderrama - History and setting
        Pebble beach - Beautiful
        TPC at Sawgrass - MAkes me want to listen to heavy metal and headbang its so awesome.

          My favorite is the one I'm on. No matter how bad a course is layed out, conditions or weather, it is always my favorite as long as I'm playing.

          (Now that that cr@p is out of the way, I was able to play Spyglass AND Cypress...as much as Cypress gets all the attention for it's finishing holes 16 and 17 -- I was on the left side beach on 16 and was looking at a 100 ft. wall of ice plants, and just got it back to the green -- still my favorite shot ever...Spyglass has some of my favorite starting holes 1-4, along the same beach 1/2 mile south. First shot is a par 5 towards the beach and @ 8AM with the fog just staring to break, my ball disappeared into the soup, not knowing where it went or how far was a wonderful feeling to find it in the middle and on sprinkerhead with 250 to go.)

            Hi,
            Loch Lomond in Scotland has to be the ultimate golfing venue.
            Spectacular scenery, challenging and interesting holes, tricky greens.
            Having never played Augusta nor many of the other high profile US courses I have to qualify my selection as the best Europe has to offer.
            Valderama, St.Andrews, The Belfy, Wentworth, Muirfield etc etc are all excellent but nothing matches the splendour of Loch Lomond.

              my favourite is carnoustie, think its the hardest course i have ever seen or played but i love it, every green has so many humps and bumbs you dont see on the tv and the bunkers are so deep and you never hit more than 75 yards out them, (real bunkers that cost you a shot if you land in them), it also had two burns the weave through the course.
              st andrews if a wonderful course to play and not so hard if no wind, muirfield is also a wonderful course to play.
              the belfy is my favourite english course and think its a great ryder cup venue.
              i do love links course's. love the way the fairway feels and there deep bunkers and the greens dont see to have a flat-spot on them but the ball seems to glids over them in a way inland course cant seem to copy.
              east lothian and fife have some wonderful gems hidden away and so many that challange your game no matter what your handicap.

                All the 'classics': Carnoustie, Augusta, St. Andrews, Belfry, Muirfield ... all very exciting courses.

                But I've taken a fancy to Sawgrass. Especially the way the last 3 holes - where the pressure is high already - are cruel as heck.
