  • What a day.......

So I went with a few friends to a course I have never played before Blue Heron (East Course). Very challenging course for me since I really haven't played too much golf in my life, I'm 21. Just recently started playing a course at least once a week. So anyway, I play pretty good on the start, very tough greens. So we have a 140 yard par 3 (Hole 7) with an elevated green. I adjust my stance a little to account for the wind. Wind up and hit a nice clean shot just left of the hole. Wind pulls it right and it falls about two inches behind the hole. Lucky I had backspin on the ball because IT FELL RIGHT INTO THE CUP! I feel so lucky to have actually had a hole in one, especially this early in my golfing "career." Just figured I would share it, this actually happened a few weeks ago and I have not yet gone back to the course to sign the papers with my witnesses (we were running late when we finished and I was really drunk lol). So anyway I was just thinking about it today. Anyone else have a hole in one story?

welldone, it is a great feeling to know that you have played the perfect shot and no one can top it, 2 years ago we went on a golfing holiday, 175 yards par3, up hill on a very windy sea side links course, I took a 5 iron and hit it well, didn't see where it landed but my partners insisted that it was in the hole, when we got to the green it sure was in the hole. it cast me a few pounds on drinks but it was worth it, great feeling.

well done, its a great feeling isn't it. Did your plastic get a hammering in the bar afterwards? I managed mine in July at Dibden Golf Center at the 296 yard par 4 12th and I can honestly say I still cant believe it to this day. Apparently the odds of a hole in one at a par 3 are 33,000 to 1 and on a par 4 they are a million to one. I managed to get my name in the paper, Todays Golfer and got a mention by Peter Alliss on the BBC, and because I was using a Callaway HX ball they sent me a exclusive polo shirt with their hole in one logo embroidered on the sleeve and a certificate. Did you save your ball so you could get it mounted, I splashed out on a nice oak display case which holds the ball and card and has a brass plate stating all the details, well its a once in a lifetime thing so why not.

Oh and by the way, I believe tiger has 18 hole in ones, but only 2 on the PGA tour.

            Re: What a day.......

I saved the ball and I'm still looking for a display case. I am actually going to be buying irons for next season so I'm thinking of mounting the club and the ball in a display case and getting a blown up picture of the hole. The saddest part of this is that the course I got my hole in one on will be torn down on November 1st, apparently the property is worth $$$$$$. So I'm going to higher a photographer to get a shot of the hole in the next week or two (if not I have a problem lol).
Leepy I couldn't imagine getting a hole in one on a par 4, congrats, it's weird when it happens because you kind of freeze up for a few seconds and just stare at the hole. Then you are quickly tackled to the ground by the rest of your friends and start drinking till you can't swing anymore lol. The credit card did not get any action at the bar, but my cash did get a work out lol.
Slf thats great, the beauty of a hole in one is not putting, im a bad putter so it saves me a few puts.
Thank you all for the compliments, and congrats to the other hole in one achievers.
Golftrader the more you golf the better your chances of getting one, its a good excuse to give to your wife lol.
Leepy I wonder if titlest does the same hole in one shirt deal????

You never know, Titleist may do something similar, I informed Taylormade aswell but never got a response, I guess Callaway are more customer friendly.

The only drawback from doing it on a par 4 is that my playing partners now expect to see it everyweek, I get comments like "this ones only 320 yards, you wont need your putter" and its a dissapointment when it doesnt go in. I am going to sell my driver although I did consider getting it mounted but they are so expensive to buy a decent one that I need to get some money back on my old one. Have you seen the new Callaway FT-i driver, its SQUARE, it wont be out till April next year but apparently its the shape of things to come.

Its a shame they are tearing down the course, it would have been nice to play it again and rekindle all those good feelings.

I remember tiger hitting a hole in 1 on the 16th at Arazona about 10 years ago i think. Don't ever remeber seeing monty get one. I remember seeing myself get one ;o) Which was nice.

                    Re: What a day.......

I confess, I play a lot of computer golf. TW04 for my PS2 has a 'chasing Tiger' section - including needing more than 13 aces (as that's how many Tiger had at that point - both practice and competition rounds). Hence I'm just wondering where the stats are.

A little research shows Tiger has 18 HIO's, 7 in competition.
