  • Q-School

What steps does someone take to play on tour. not that I ever will, but I was just curious what it takes to get there. Can someone like you and I go to Q-School, qualify and play on tour the following year. Also, what does it take to play the Nationwide tour? Just curious, no pipe dreams here.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Re: Q-School

    Hi mate,

Basically any one can turn pro off any handicap! A 36 handicapper can turn pro if they want, theres nothign stopping them lol! Although that would just be stupid.

You can get on european tour by working up the smaller tours such as europro and challenge tour (come in top 20 of challenege tour and you get on european tour). But to go to Q-School you have to have a handicap of 4 or below (or be a pro). Once you tee off in Q-School you are now a professional golfer.

For nationwide tour its the same. there is a q-school and you have to be below 4 handicap to enter q-school, or turn pro and THEN play in q-school. You can find entry forms for q-school on www.europeantour.com .

            Re: Q-School

I recently played with a 41 year old ex-pro who still plays to a +6 handicap from the championship tees at Oakmont Golf Club in Pennsylvania. He tried to get back on the tour last fall through Q school qualifying and didn't make it. If you don't think, eat and drink golf 24 hours per day and have the game to prove it, you're wasting your time and dollars. Probably one of the toughest goals to reach in all of sports. Competing against all the aspiring golfers in the world for a handful of spots on the PGA tour.

Hey man dont let people tell you negative stuff. There are people who breeze threw Q school and some dont some people it may take two or three trys Also another way if you have the game is to go to a tourny and try to Monday Qualify thats open to anyone and if you make the cut your in and if you play good and win which DOES happen your on to the next Tourney. So theres ways to get in with the Big Boys.
