  • Any help?

    Hi All,

I have been quite happy with my game of late, making a 79 recently. From t to green no prob, that is until my last two visits to the course. A sudden problem has arrived which is doing me no good and has knocked me backwards. With a good solid drive and good approach iron, I am looking to maybe chip on with a s/wedge. As soon as i attempt the chip I am ending up with a horrible socket and adding two or more extra strokes to the hole. My set up is no different than normal, i.e. slightly open with ball at front right foot. I have worked on a steady head (not looking up) but this is not solving the problem. I would appreciate any help.

    Cheers,
    Robert

    Re: Any help?

Think long putting stroke. No hands, all shoulder tilting back and forth. Ball in the back of the stance. Light grip pressure, and think only of your landing area. What kind of length back with the club you chose will fly the ball to that perfect spot.

        Hi Rob,

I only use my wedge to chip if the lie is good.

As you know a miss with the wedge can turn out bad. A miss with a 9, 8, 7 and so on can turn out all right.

Consider all options. Practice all options.

Rob, try this. I have altered my practice regime with my chipping. I took a practice plan from one of Dr Bob's book and altered to suit my circumstance.

3 days a week I'll chip. 3 balls with each the 9, 7, PW, SW and LW from 2 metres, 4 metres and 6 metres.

        It's working.

If you want to know another for pitching give me a hoy.

        Nicole
