  • Tiredness after a round.

At the ripe old age off 33 I have lately been feeling quite tired after a round. I shouldnt be because I am fit, dont smoke and hardly ever drink, so why can 70 year old blokes play 3 times a week and dont seem to feel the strain. Are there any foods or drinks that I should be thinking about, I do usually carry 1 or 2 bottles of powerade with me.

Powerbars. They have great energy. But eat them 30 minutes before the round so you can "go" before you tee off.

      Greg,
are powerbars and american thing or could you find them in little old England. Do you know whats in them that gives you the energy, I know alot of pros carry bananas, would they have a similar effect?

They are basically pure energy...lots of carbs and protien.

        They are in UK:

I never go to the course without three items. They are: a bar of plain milk chocolate, a bannana, and a bottle of still water. If I ever forget any, i know quite quickly. Also it is a good idea to carry a sandwich made up of salad products. A bit messy i know, but a great energy boost

the question is do you feel that you get tired after any other strenuous excersize or work.
could be diet, maybe low blood sugar, but without being pessemistic, if it continues, and you are physically fit it may be time for a visit to the GP.
there are several minor ailments that can cause any excersize to take it out of you, even the beginnings of a cold can do that and several other viral infections that are only very mild and short lived, and then there are the more serious but controllable ones like diabetese.
not trying to be horrible but its always best to get yourself checked when something unusual happens, there are so many things that are easy to get sorted if you get them seen to early.

Is your tiredness physical or mental? If it is physical and you are fit and well then the suggestions on food and drink will help, if they don't then get checked up by your doctor.

Mental exhaustion can leave you feeling worn out as well. If you think it may be this then learn to spend less time in deep concentration during a game, we can only concentrate the mind for a limited time without becoming weary. Try and relax physically and mentally between shots, look at the scenery as you walk, hum a tune, speak to your other players. Get back in the concentration zone as you approach the ball again.

Hope this is of some help.
