I knew that rule 13 says (as edited by me) that:
"A player must not improve or allow to be improved the area of his intended stance or swing by any of the following actions: moving, bending or breaking anything growing or fixed."
Last time out I couldn’t make even a 3/4 swing without brushing some foliage so (I thought) had to chip out sideways.
I’ve just had another look at thr rules to check and 13.2 also says:
"However, the player incurs no penalty if the action occurs: in making a stroke or the backward movement of his club for a stroke and the stroke is made."
So I assume that means that you can’t hit the growing stuff on your practice swing, or when checking how much room you’ve got for the back swing but if you do decide to go for it you are fine.
Is that right?
