Re: nick names to the way friends play.

At my club we have christened one fellow Precious Pete (even though his real name is Bruce) because he is so easily distracted over any shot he plays and is very quick to blame any poor shot on any external distractions...

The last time I saw him go nuts was on the first tee at our last Medal Day, here's Precious standing over his opening tee shot, going with a 5 wood for safety and he gets it off the toe and blocks it out onto an adjoining fairway.

Well he turns to the masses waiting to follow him and picks out the one guy who was using the ball washer and gives him mouthful for putting him off...

        Very funny...

The Crocodile: Snaps at anything that moves.

Slightly different, I heard someone describe a bad shot as a "Son in Law" shot. When asked they said "Not what we were expecting but it will have to do"

And a "Dairylea" as in lots of slices

Not a nick name but I have heard someone taking two shots in the bunker as an 'Adolf Hitler'

Re: nick names to the way friends play.

There's a guy at our club who we just call Sergio now.

18 years old. Idolises Garcia. Same clothes (all Adidas) Taylormade equipment and ball, swing modelled on the man. It's bordering on creepy, actually.

He even goes as far as wearing the same outfits as Garcia wears on the latest 3rd and 4th days of a USPGA tournament for the 1st and 2nd rounds of our club championship.

                    It's worrying really.

Some of you may have heard this but this was told to me by my Dad, a devout Christian. When we play and somebody tops a drive and it peters its way across the tee box and doesn't make it past the ladies tee, we all call 'Dick-out' This means since they didn't even manage to hit it past the ladies tee, they need to play the rest of that hole with their 'package' hanging out. Needless to say, i was shocked to hear this coming from my dad. Made me want to golf with him all the time.

Now mind you, nobody really does it, at least nobody confident enough, but its always fun to tell a nubie to the 4-some about this rule...of course after he muffs his drive.

This thread is a fun read. Thanks.

Some my friends and I use on each other:

hasselhoff -- when some goes in the sand
                        scud -- errant shots
apollo13 -- for extraordinarily high shots

For those golfers who miss a lot of greens but still land the ball just off the green, on the fringe, the term "Frog's Hair" (Frog) comes to mind. I have heard the remark after a golfer skies a shot "so how much are stewardesses (Steward) getting paid these days?". Or, "GAP" as in "got any peanuts". The term "logger" has been used when a ball goes through a tree, and breaks some limbs off.

"baglgolfer's" package story is funny. We don't go as far as that, but we have told each other after a topped shot that lack distance "I guess you will be using the Ladies restroom from here on out" aka "STP" (squat to pee)
