Re: Michelle Wie (again)
I know, I feel bad for the girl because even though she is in a grown up world in regards to money and things of the such, in reality she is still a girl. Someone needs to save her or she will end up as another ty tryon

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
Hopefully she can survive what I think is a series of poor choices. Her parents and handlers have not served her well. I also think she is a victim of her own arrogance and ego. She is stuck because she cannot play in the major amateur events or college golf. She is at the mercy of exemptions on the pro tour. Really sad in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how things turn out when she becomes a regular on the women's tour.

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
Not a big fan of women playing in men's pga tournies-especially when you haven't won on the lpga(last I saw she hasn't).She will be a great golfer and role model but the need to focus on school or the lpga is more important right now than the men's tournies.....going to do nothing but crush confidence if there is any right now.

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
Even the best of parents make mistakes. I think if they intelligently guided her otherwise, not made her, she would have taken their direction. It seems they got caught up in the history making idea like she did. I hope she becomes the great player that she wants to be but she didn't need to go this route. She would have been better served playing as an amateur for a while longer. But that is all water under the bridge now.

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
For me, bottom line here is good luck to her...
If she is good enough to compete on the PGA Tour, then eventually she will get a result that befits her obvious talent. Until then, only the guys on the tour that she beats will be the ones with a problem. And not much of a problem at that.
So long as they play their own game and forget their fellow competitors, then they don't (or shouldn't) have a problem.
For me the only issue I have is that her playing PGA Events has a ring of PT Barnum about it. In my mind, it shouldn't...
Maybe the PGA & LPGA should get together and run a couple of co sanctioned events each year. This would certainly remove the speculation. And it is only the speculation that is the problem.
I have no issue with women and men cometing on a level playing surface.
But, I'm not an egocentric PGA touring golf professional....

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
At the end of the day it is all about money...
I recently had a conversation with someone about Michelle Wie getting exemptions in PGA tour events. I had to kindly remind them that they were corporate sponsor exemptions. It seems that some feel that if women can play in male tour events then men should be able to play in female tour events. Fair is fair—is typically how the argument goes. But I disagree.
I feel that we will all see the day when some females will be competitive on the PGA tour. In some respects, Michelle is paving the way either for herself or future female golfers. Lets face it, distance off the tee is not a guarantee of wining on either tour. It is the ability to get up and down—a bit of luck wouldn’t hurt. I really do not see an advantage of one sex or another.
Having said that, I feel if women want to play on the PGA they should go through Q school. If you can get through Q school on the PGA then you deserve your shot---one must remember that even if you make it through Q school you still have to earn enough winnings to stay on the tour, which can be quite hard because they can’t just go out and play any tournament available.
This is where I usually get shot down in these discussions, I do not feel that men should be able to play on the LPGA. Why, well it wouldn’t be fair. Men on an average are better scores than the average LPGA player. If a superstar LPGA player wants to move up to the PGA and can (Q school), then go for it…I will tune in. After all, that is the point—advertising dollars… Money, Money, Money.

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
That teenage girl is on top of the world, famous, earning million$$ and playing pro golf with the best people, equipment/facilities/support and in fabulous courses as well. She is like a one person golf corporation machine just like Sorenstam, Woods, Mickelson, etc. She never had it so good and most of us can only dream about such a life... sooner or later she will win an LPGA tournament and barring any injuries will probably hold many records.
Did I mention that she can also hit it a mile? Watta swing, eh?
Ahhhhhhhh... if only we could have her "problems".... Sheeeeeesh.

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
I think the bottom line is, she needs to learn how to win. Most of the players you see at the top learned how to win at an early age. She will not learn how to win on the PGA tour and this may affect her confidence on the LPGA.

Re: Michelle Wie (again)
hi
i remember laura davis (drove the ball miles) talking about the mens tour and saying she could outdrive most of them but thats all, she said most pga courses were set up so diffrent from when the lpga played them, fairways were narrow and tee's were a lot longer and the rough was lot longer and closer to the greens too.
she said maybe if they played the same course with the same rough and narrow fairways week in and week out then over time they could give a good acounts of themselfs against the guys but till then they could not give the top guys a run for there money,

Anyways, all she is trying to do is make a cut on the PGA Tour. If some kid like Tadd Fujikura, who Wie dominated in the Hawaii golf scene, can make a cut, than theres no doubt that Wie, who is a way better talent, can do it.
Wie's LPGA results are extrodinary, its unlikely her confidence is lacking. Even if it is, who cares, she still has the talent and motivation to win.
I have no issues with Wie playing on the PGA Tour. If the sponsor's give her the invites, why should she pass up the privledge of playing, and perhaps reaching her goal?
