  • Hands at Top of Swing

I was at the range working on not strangling the club when I noticed something. On a couple of shots, my grip was so relaxed that I could feel the club move slighlty in my hands at the top of my swing. I think it sort of dropped toward the ground as I reached parallel. Anyway, I hit a couple of very crisp, straight and long shots. Now I don't think the club is supposed to move like that, but I was wondering if maybe I am not hinging my wrists enough during the backswing.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also, Golfbald if you read this, please don't think of leaving the site. Your posts are always informative. And what's this "rip stop" shot I read about in a thread?

    Brad,

I think you just felt what it was like to complete the backswing. Relax your body on the backswing. Relax and you will feel it more often, it's like a whisper, you don't have to make any loud movements on the backswing and you will feel a whisper. (and then it will make some noise at impact!!!)

I can't post anything on the ripstop shot yet it's being worked on. I needed a member to help and Ace and Tyronne (his friend)volunteered to try it. It's getting there but it's not finished. A definite one hop and stop shot, it's played a little different than the traditional one but I think the results are more consistent.

Brad, I didn't know if I was typing in the wind, so to speak. I have seen a few members post some really good drills, ideas then they move on. Cliff where are you my friend!!! I love reading Cliff's stuff, such an elegant writer. I feel sometimes like I write too much stuff. I have every good intention in helping people become better golfers. This game saved my life literally, I just want to pay back an old friend. For now I keep writing, until Greg tells me to stop.
