Finally......

A reality TV show worth watching......

Kim Hughes is an Australian sporting legend and his son Brad is making his own name in a different field.

I like the way Andrew puts things, we should just try to "influence" where the ball goes and see where that leads.

His quote "The first sign of Lunacy is to do exactly the same thing over and over again and expect different results" is a classic I hadn't heard before.

Good site Maryanne, will keep an eye on the progress of the challenge...

I really enjoyed the previous set of test footage you posted (apart for the scottish "funny man"). These movies are even better. Feels more professional and still very relaxed. Good job. Hope to see the result on the tube some day!

Hi Guys I am posting from Beijing in China, I have been here for the Chinese New Year. It was a fantaststic celebration with Fireworks for 10 days. I was really pleased with all the fireworks as every time I got wind I could play along with the song so to speak.
I showed Andrew's Video lessons over here and the Chinese are organising some one to translate so they can use them as sports fillers.
Peter I agree iIput to much of the clown in the pilot but only because when we filmed a very bad weather day and we didn't get enogh of the relationships.
Bogeys to Birdies is about the relationships on a golf course.Its starts with the challenge of Father & Son Kim Hughes and son Brad and the the relationships between Andrew the Head Coach and his offsider Steve Herbert.(these two play a lot like "Home Improvement Tim & Al)
I hope to also show the relationships between Husband & Wifes, Grandma Teaching her grandson etc.If we keep it light hearted and fun I believe more people will give golf a go/
For many years I laughed at Golf and said why would i chase a little white ball... to finally give it a go and fall in love all in one day.

This guy has some interesting methods. His grip technique is good.

I am not yet convinced about his teaching relating to a squat position with straight back at address and his method of upright swinging and a square set finish. I can currently see that someone with back problems may benefit but I am not yet convinced that swinging with an upright spine angle will help most golfers. He does not seem to be at all interested in plane or backswing.

I will give it some consideration rather than just disagree. Anyone else's opinion would be helpful.

I imagine you would like some criticism
on these. I watched the lesson with
Kim and the lesson with Sean. At the
risk of sounding flippant, I really don't
see anything you could do to improve these
features. The sound and picture came
across just fine (pretty setting helps, too)
and I especially liked the way the story
was allowed to play out without too
many cutaways from the main action.

You have told the story of
a lesson, here. You are really showing
Andrew in action, first, and featuring the
student. Much of the success of Kim's
was a result of Kim, being himself.
Sean wasn't so animated as Kim --
different personalities. Still, it is the
point of the lesson itself that holds
the viewer.

It takes a few minutes to download
11 mb. I assume you are looking at
cable distribution. There are frequently
brief "golf tips" on TV. Yours, here, rate
right up there with the best I have seen,
IMHO.

I have had very good interest in 6 minute lessons from the free to air as sports fillers plus a lot of interest from the airlines.Short flights are usually businessman.
Bogeys to Birdies is a 13 week 1/2 hour show that cross your fingers may be starting in April.

I thought the videos were well done, the sound could be a bit better but overall a very nice job. I took a couple of the ideas from the video to the course today. I haven't hit a ball in a couple of months so they were quite easy to put into play.

A question for the forum Moderator.
Just checked our web site stats and have 60 visitors from your forum using 80% of current bandwith yesterday with a average on line time of 16 minutes yet your forum views only show nine.
My curiousity is that I also have a Australian Forum how can they view with out it increasing the figure.
P.S My forum is the only competetion to golf...sex of couse. A educational forum for adventurous adults.lol

Hi BrianW, your response is a common one but I hope I can explain. Firstly in my opinion one of the ingredients of a repeating powerful swing is balance. To understand true balance you have to go to the core of the body approx 4 fingers down from the navel at a 4 way intersection within the body. This must be engaged to support an athletic safe movement.With a traditional bend or tilt from the hips forward you will disengage many core group muscles resulting typically with a head up hit or going down and across the ball ie mishit or pull / slice. Traditional level conditions both in bacswing and finish positions will be comprimised. Add to this that if the clubhead achieves velocities of 100mph + we have created a tremendous force, which when measured as weight will equate to approx 20kg ( sorry guys don't know the pounds conversion ) at impact and just past. To support even these momentary forces the body must be FULLY BALANCED!! Think of good human posture not just golf remember we were all people before we were golfers!ie stand on balls of feet, erect spine, shoulders back, chin up/in re Alexander postural method, pelvic bone up. Now to go down to lift something bend your knees. This will allow body to remain level or on plane as a structure allowing hands arms to create natural ulna/ radius deviations creating the natural plane within the swinging levers. My personal opinion is that the club on plane is an effect not a cause....if you are looking for planes go to an airport! Hope this my help answer you q.

swing plane has been fundamental to
understanding since Ben Hogan, the
acknowledged best ball striker in the
history of the game.

Now now Boys, we must be allowed to disagree, after all it makes the posts more interesting.
Andrew is vey new to this posting thing and I also thought his quip about planes came across a little arrongantly.Knowing Andy I know this wasn't his intention as he spends all day (with the patience of a saint) helping people improve their golf.
Mr Mays does the same thing.I personally think it is not golf that is complicated it is ourselfs that complicate it.
In reply to edshaw, Andy's first teacher was his father who played at the same club as Ben Hogan.Andrew's father was a self taught scratch golfer, who taught himself by watching and playing with Ben Hogan.I believe he may have won a game or two as well.

Actually I was very serious about the planes they are largely established at address ie ASB vertical creates clubface plane when correct sequence is applied from address.My major bone with golfers who struggle with any consistency is they think at the wrong time about the wrong things. Working on any position could be valid in front of a mirror when introduced in association with the full intention of the swing. However when you are actually hitting the ball all the best players do very little thinking by comparison. Whats wrong with just thinking the shot once you know how?
