Just wanted to say that after yesterday I think I am on to something and can't wait to get out again and see if the ideas and practices will hold...
Decided to test a few "theories" I've picked up from here over the last month or so, so I went to the course a little early (ok, 2 hours early
) with my shag stick, irons and my woods as well and hit some practice balls....
First it was a drill where you take the club only half way back and then half way through with a full wrist cock both ends. The reason supposedly is to give you a feel for the action of the hands and wrists through the impact area. After a few swings with the 7 iron, I decided I'd hit some balls, and every time, 100m or so rifle straight. NOICE!!!
Then, on hitting full shots, I noticed I was catching them a little heavy, but still hitting them reasonably straight, so I brought my feet a little closer together for a few and what do you know, lovely crisp contact. All this time, feet too wide....
So, I hit a few 3 irons with the new found happiness and out over 220m they go, noice and straight...
Lastly, I want to try a higher tee height for my driver & 3W. I got some longer tees mid week and teed the ball almost a 3/4's above the driver head when resting on the ground, I also hovered the club head directly behind the ball at address, which was something I'd never done previously. And as if by magic, I hit driver straight. I couldn't believe it.
After another 10, I was convinced this was going to work...
So after an hour and a half on the range, I was smiling, confident I was going to have a good day....
Thanks to all who pass through here from time to time...
Will post details of my day yesterday in my journal over the next couple of days...
Cheers
