  • I am so happy with my improvements

My name is Bruce and i am in Australia. I only picked up golf clubs for the first time at the end of May this year.

I played a round of golf on a par 70 coarse (Redbank Plains for those who know it) my score was 137. I then had a lesson learnt how the grip the club and how to stand at the ball. straight away my scores drop to about 125. I then had a second lesson on how to get out of sand, chip and do flop shoots over bunkers. my scores dropped another 10 strokes.

I went back about a month ago and asked the coach how to generate more power, he told me that I had to transfer my weight instead of just using my shoulders. For the last month I have been trying to do that without much success. here was some of my distances.

7iron was hitting it about 110yards. my 3 iron about 150 yards. my driver 190 yards. early last week I learnt how to do it properly aswell as hit the ball square. I now hit my 7 iron 150 yards, my 3 iron 190 yards, and my driver about 220 yards. My last 3 rounds have been 97, 95, and 92. Which included my fisrt three birdies and an eagle.

    Congrats Bruce !!!!

You have made remarkable progress in a short time. Grooving a swing into the 90's requires all the fundementals, sounds like you have that down well.

Hey There again guys, I have been consistly hitting low 90's and a couple times I have broken 90 just yesterday I shot 88 and 87 has been my best. I have increased my lenght by about 10 yards an iron, and I am hitting a draw now and I am driving 250 yards with a new driver. I don't know the brand name but it's a callaway copy. I now can hit a pretty consistant shot with my full swing.

And I am now starting to practice chipping and putting. I am losing so many strokes from missing short putts, and only 50 % of my chip shots are getting within a one putt postion. Just yesterday I landed the green from the tee off on all the 4 par three's and scorced a 4 on every one of them because of 3 putts. One of them I was 4 feet from the pin and missed the hole, and for par it was a 1 foot putt which Imissed. Also on a par 5 495 yards I was about 1 yard short of the green for my second shot and I missed aimed my bump and run about 20 feet and 2 putted from 6 Feet.

so from now on because I am very happy with my full swing I will spend 60% of my practice time on putting and 30% on chipping.
