  • Trip to Myrtle Beach/Topsail Beach

I have a 2 week vacation coming up, 1 week in Myrtle and 1 week in Topsail (more of a relaxation destination). The week in Myrtle should be great. 1 round the 1st 2 days, 2 rounds the next 2, 1 round the last. There will be 12-14 golfers. Hopefully 12 to give us 3 foursomes.

Just plain golf is fun and all....but I am going down with some gamblers. There is also a huge range in handicaps...25 down to a scratch. I am trying to find some "games" that we can play in teams. I know the standard best-ball stuff. But maybe some different scoring options and stuff you can definately bet on

Anyone got any good games for all levels of golfer that can make the playing feel even?

Do you have instructions on how to play it or a link to said instuctions?

Trying to outline a "plan of attack" while we are down there. I am responsible for all of the tee times and "activities" because I am the so-called "life of the party." Woopie! I love extra work!

      Thanks Brian.

A Texas scramble is where all the members of a team (usually three or four) ) drive from the tee. The shot that finishes in the best position (in the team’s own opinion) is chosen and each member plays again from the same spot and the process is repeated, including on the green, until the hole is completed. Only the chosen shot at each point is counted, so if four players hit four shots each, the score for the hole is still only four. (Handicaps are usually worked out as a percentage of the total of all the team’s handicaps added together. A fourball with a combined handicap of say 60 normally receives 10% i.e. 6 shots off the entire 18 holes). There are many variations of the theme though. The team must select at least four tee shots for each player during the round so that the longest hitters are not used repeatedly.

Gotcha...I like playing best ball with the 1, 1 & 1 rule. Must use 1 drive, 1 approach and 1 putt from each player.

Other good one I heard the other day, don't know the name....
          1) At least 2 teams of 4.
          2) Each player must "team up" for 6 holes with each player on his team. So partner 1 for holes 1 thru 6, partner 2 for holes 7 thru 12, partner 3 for holes 13 thru 18.
          3) From here, you can either use best ball or alt shot rules. Whatever you want.
          4) Score is based on the strokes taken by each 2 man team added with the other 2 man team.

We also play a game where every team has one yellow ball. The team takes it in turn to play the yellow ball for a complete hole each in sucsession, if the ball is put in a hazard, or out of bounds then you continue to play your normal game with your normal balls. The team that gets furthest with the yellow ball wins the pot.
