    Re: lagging

    Hi There,

A difficult thing to explain really but he is the quickest tip...........

Take it to the top, now STRAIGHTEN the right arm without turning the shoulders..........as it straightens fire the hips, then shoulders through.

Thats is the parts............what actually happens is the hips move first lateral slightly as the weight shift and the whole body turns in sinc..........the only real thing that keeps the lag is the straightening of the right arm while holding the wrist angle.

    hope this helps

    Ian.

      Hi Ian,

Look in the "Golf Practice Forum" where a thread on Lag Drills was recently started.

          Re: lagging

I am probably way off base here due to conventional thinking, but as far as "lag" is concerned, if a golfer does a lot of things right in their swing, then the lag, and release will take care of themselves, at the proper time in the down swing. Lag is a no thought process when on the course, playing for a low score. Those who focus on swing positions while on the golf course will not, IMHO score as well, than those who just go out and swing the club head, while being comfortable with their swing. Practicing swing positions is fine idea at the range, but once you get on the course, in a 9 or 18 hole game, just swing the club head, with maybe a (very few) stance, or grip, adjustments and just play the game. A little off topic I know, but once you are on the course in a match with your self, or friends, forget about swing positions, and just swing the club head. Now if your competive round of golf is also a learning round, then disregard my post. GJS

            Re: lagging

            Sorry guys,

The confusion is that the straightening of the right arm happens on the downswing while keeping the shoulders back to the target as long as possible, while keeping the wrist angle......................then fire through.

            Hope this makes sense.

            Ian.

Have a look at this picture, the feeling is one of straightening the right arm.
