  • Level 1 on the way!

    Hello everyone,
I just mailed payment for my PGA Level 1 kit! I can't wait to dig in and get my apprenticeship under way. I made a career change about a year ago and I haven't been in school for 17 years. So, I'll be looking to some of you for guidance along the way. Let me tell you, it is such a great feeling going to work when it's something you're really passionate about. This truly is the best game!
Thanks for letting me vent some of my anxious energy!

Re: Level 1 on the way!

All information is on PGALinks . The first step is to pass the Playing Ability Test. Basically, shoot two rounds in the 72-75 range. It's an actual tournament, with both rounds played the same day 99% of the time. That, along with some work history in the golf industry, allows you to register as an apprentice. It is a self study curriculum that covers all the basics, from the obvious to the business and marketing. Level 1 cost is about $1,000. Levels 2 & 3 are around $2,000 each. Level 2 & 3 costs include airfare and accommodations for week long testing and seminars at the PGA headquarters in Florida. It takes anywhere from 2-5 years to complete. That's what it takes on this side of the pond. I would imagine it's similar in the UK.

Good to hear you passed the PAT......That's a very hard part of it from what I understand, a couple of buddies of mine have taken it a few times and missed it, so they gave up on the golf management program....Good players too -shame they couldn't do it under pressure..

Good luck with that ...Keep posted
